Default FAO... gearbox/clutch people...

Was driving my FRST lat night... first of all it became difficult to put it in second gear... then it became really difficult to get in first and second... then setting off from traffic lights in 1st gear i went straight to 3rd because second was tough, as the revs started to build it just made a noise and the revs went high as if i was in neutral, i could put the car in 3rd, 4th and 5th but there was nothing there.... 1st gear was crunching going in as if i was crunching in to reverse, i had to limp home in second which was making a funny noise but it kept popping out and i had to hold it in. There didnt seem to be a problem eith reverse....

I'm just hoping that it is the clutch that has gone and not the gearbox as i was going to put in an APclutch soon anyway.

Any thoughts??

Would definately say its the gearbox if u want pricing up on gearbox, clutch or labour to remove and replace give jamsport dan a call on 01604 755529 im sure he'll help u out.

would advise fitting a good 4 paddle clutch kit and gettin the flywheel skimmed when u put the box back in aswell....

Bit of a wierd thing though that is sticking in my head is that when the car is turned off i can put it through the gears and it feels like it goes in, if it was goosed would it still do that?

yeah does sound like the main shaft bearing has given out.
its a weak point mate, my gearbox decided trho $hit it self years ago, had no warning, it just sounded real crap when i went home from a mates, by the time i got home it wouldnt even reverse! once stripped , main shaft was fooked, 2nd in input shaft had5 full teeth left, and the magnic wasw about a inch thick,

live and learn.
