im proppa pissed off with my job, and ideally id like to become a plumber but as i have no qualifications im plumbing it means ill prolly have to become an apprentice and be on shit money etc, which i cant afford to do.

other option is becoming a copper, they get £18.5 k a year when they are just training.

if joined "the force" id like to be a traffic cop.

My sister works in the HQ taking the 999 calls and they get you on a contract where if you leave in the first 3 years you have to pay them for all the training they have given you.

 

I looked into this, went through first stages, passed them, then thought better of it.

Fudge, get ya Class 1 HGV, 32k+ for doing virtually NOTHING. In Northamptonshire Poilce you'd have to be a Sergeant for 3 years to earn that

I'm in the same boat as you mate. well pissed off with sitting at a desk infront of a computer all day. I have looked into becoming a copper. Thing that put me off was thinking how I've been when out on the piss and having to deal with people much much worse. I also thought about being a trucker but I am crap at driving whilst tired and would probably die

i too passed the medical tests and the role play to join the police

then i realised i only wanted to join cos of the starting on £19k a year

tbh you have to want to be a copper to do the job i was joining for the money which in my opinion is the wrong reason to join that particular profession

 

Yer you know that, the things I have done that I would never have got to do are mental.

Pay isn't too bad either but can you handle the 3 months of training and being away from your family & friends all the time

 

thats a no for the army too, im far too lazy, and i dont think the missus would like it...

 

i had a mate in t police and he left coz he said it wasnt what he expected. Spent most of his time scrapping people up off the floor. Spose you gotta be the right or special kind of person but i wouldnt fancy it.

best thing to do if you cant afford apprentice wages is to do a plumbing course in your own time to build up enough knowledge that maybe you could do a couple of small jobs on your own, when you did get a job.

this would bump your money up a bit but your boss would know you still need training!

btw i was on £35 a day for 18 months! just recently gone up to £45 and beleive me i earn it!
