Default My standard S2!

Heres a few recent pics of my standard 90-spec S2 (just turned onto 85k miles this week)

As said, totally standard apart from full system magnex exhaust (with 3" tail pipe) and pioneer cd player head unit, and upgraded speakers.

Even has the original dealer numberplates and dealer stickers lol

tut tut tut. to have a car as mint and original as that it is a shame to mod....in my opinion. standard is the new customized where RST's are concerned. everybody has modded ones so be individual and stay standard.

I know exactly what you mean about keeping it standard, and thats fair comment but as i use the car everyday and the old exhaust was starting to look a bit tatty, i thought a new exhaust makes it look a bit nicer. Its not getting any more engine mods tho, as i like it just the way it is

As for tyres, its got Michelin Pilot Exaltos on the back, and Goodyear eagles i think they're called on the front

i can see your point re the exhaust, mine is on its last legs (well its 16yrs old, so i'll let it off!)

im getting a quicksilver exhaust, they are just as standard, same bore, sound, tailpipe size but made of stainless steel. bit more pricey that an off the shelf jobby but not booming down the motorway

That sounds really nice, i'm sure i saw one of those in Fast Ford years ago. That one looked exactly the same as a standard pipe, but was stainless steel

know the feeling mate, mine was as tidy as yours when i got it 8 months ago...

25k miles later, and its not good news

some twat smashed my n/s wing (hopefully fixed soon), some twat smashed my rear light (now fixed), stonechips, parking dings on your doors, general dirt + filth etc all takes away the shine.

im gonna get another car and garage her till summer i think...

Original radio!!!! lol

Lucky man! . My car didn't come with the original radio, and i tried getting one everywhere i could think of round here, but couldn't find one lol. I know its the model 5000 rad/cass i need, but as said, i couldn't find one. Thats why i went for the Pioneer radio/cd player thats in the car now............

Has a bit of a retro look to it, and i think it fits in well with the rest of the car/interior . Its a shame really, cos if it had the original radio in it, i could use the power amp, but it only works with Ford head units!!

As for the wheels, they're certainly original, but in excellent condition, not perfect... a few more miles and they'll be treated to a re-furb!!! lol

sig changed!.

there'll be a standard radio out there somewhere. i'll keep my eyes peeled.

how are you door cards?. especially the drivers!. my grey cloth on the drivers is torn, the velour is mint though. if i got door cards changed or re-trimmed i'd be well chuffed and have an absolutely original car. im obsessed now lol

Yeah, thought i'd change the sig as i was 50/50 on the other one

The picture of my car in the sig is actually the picture used in the Auto Trader advert when my car was for sale, i made a point of saving it when i bought the car lol

As for door cards, mine are perfect really, can't fault them. That goes for the whole interior really! To be really picky the car could do with a valet to get any remaining little marks out of the rear seats, but in all honestly, thats me just being fussy!!! Its pretty much mint i'd say

Heres a pic....

The only change is that i now have the fuel computer fitted that was the only thing the car didn't have. Its a non working computer as i haven't got the wiring loom or anything for it, but even tho it doesn't work, i think it looks better than the old coin tray i had in the car before....

yep - original mats in mine as well, interior is mint as well, the seats were covered from new. and a plastic bag always put between the accelarator and carpet to stop it getting marked.

i like the RS steering wheel i have, i know its not exactly standard but was an option, i would like a fuel computer. that would be great.

basically all i need is the door cards and new exhaust and then i'll be very happy. i might get even more looks on the road then with a new exhaust lol

Amazing you say about the RS wheel!!!

I've just bought a leather bound RS 4 spoke wheel for mine , as to be honest the standard wheel isn't that great!!

I know what you mean about it being an option, i've got a period accessiories catalogue somewhere, and the 3 and 4 spoke leather wheels are in there

lol, theres a lot of really really nice modded RST's about, but at the same time its excellent to finally talk to someone with another standard one... who wants to keep it standard!!!!!

Is that the power amp you mean?? Thats basically a 5th speaker and you can adjust volume and balance on it (thats what the 2 knobs on the right are). Thing is it only works with Ford head units due to the lead at the back, therefore i've never been able to use it.

In early cars, you could have a graphic equiliser in the car as an option, buy with 90-spec cars like mine, the option was the power amp. I've seen one the same as mine fitted in a standard sapphire cosworth, so again, a period addition that was in the car from new

right, i want one of those as well.

yeah - im suprised to have found someone that wants to keep theirs standard to. dont get me wrong, i'll be frustrated when some chipped rst wees on my but at the same time originality has its charm!

i can sense friendly rivalry in the future between us to to get the most period options lol.

so, i have standard radio and u have amp thingy majingy. 1 all
