Picking your tuner how ?
This could be a controversial thread but fuck it,
What helps you make up your mind, say you have just bought a new car different from any previous marque you have owned ,

suppose it would have to be the place where a lot of the mitsubishi development work was done before the car was released, where some of the Prodrive ECU's are developed & where Ecutek was founded & still located!!!
now let me think.........

Think they have a web site.
Red's already mentioned the ones I was going to mention for the EVO - I know AJ is happy with his Autronic setup by Mark.
A good friend of mine is lucky enough to have contacts in Ralliart, so he's getting his uprated by them.
ECUTEK specalise in Subaru & Mitsubishi remapping, they do a convertion by serial port connection which remaps the cars standard ecu, so theres no changing things or pulling the car apart to do it, just a laptop plugged in to a serial port in the car.
Ecutek developed quite a bit of the Ralliart & Prodrive stuff aswell, so no need to go to Japan
the dentist uses Ecutek amongst his other brands

not got them to devise anything for the escos yet, so its good old Omex for mine
Air Max developments is the place to take all EVO's..
Bongman.. my understanding is that alot of input into the engine/turbo etc was done by Owen Developments for the FQ models.. Mate was saying when he was there last time, they have a 500+ bhp EVO..
So why dont more use them? tbh Id never heard of the company before, just intrigued..
FPMSL @ tuner not trainer

if not it must work out quite pricey to fit autronic, & if the car needs to back for warrenty.......
the Ecutek is an undetectable file in the standard ecu so if your car go's back to a main dealer they may never know! it can also be returned back tostandard if need be.
Wes'ide, that's my understanding too - there was another company involved as well, but can't remember their name. I think they possibly tend to concentrate on OE stuff (e.g. FQ models for Mitsi), although I'm sure the aftermarket side of the business will grow.
Guzzler, I think you misquoted? I was reffering to OD not MAD...
Red, can't believe no one mentioned Norris until now

For the Evo I'd probably suggest Mark Shead too, or Simon Norris since both have produced a number of well known cars which produce the goods.
It seems funny that particular after market management seems to be favoured on certain makes of car, e.g:
Impreza's = Motec
Evo's = Autronic / Gems
Cossie's = Pectel
I presume it's just a case of what the particular tuner prefers working with.

RC developments,
cos i know the owner. lol
and his demo car run a low 10 at pod, still with glass, on road tyres, and his 2nd run b4 the gearbox broke and ended the day,
i spoke to him the week b4 he did this run,
he had driven the evo to athens for a show, then driven it home.
for a 10s car to be driven to athens and back in 5 days thats gotta say something about the car.
and the week after it was going to the isle of mann for a weekend racing

If I felt the urge for more power then it would be the Autronic replacement board route.
Why?
The original harness is used no wireing nor additional sensors are needed.
Full control over fuel, ignition, boost etc etc and comes complete with Autotune.
Now go do your home work Mike
