Hi Just thought I would say hello and wonder if you could help, I signed up ages ago but never got around to saying hello.

My name is Davy I'm 22 years of age.

I currently don't own a ford at the moment having to drive in a micra which is testing my patience at the moment.

My dad has a ford fiesta flame with the 1.4 duratec 16v which he has had for a year after driving around in a couple of Nissans (but he has had about seven fords in the past) and me and him have come to the conclusion it is noisy when first started up.

I think it is a characteristic of the duratac.

Can anybody shed any light on this?

Also my dad thinks his car is a poor driver in town but excellent on the motorway.

I'm currently looking around for a XR2 from about 1989 but any ford would do me as I've grown up around them.

What kind of sound it this fezzy making?

Most cars [Fords especially] sound a bit tappety when first started as they wait for the oil to reach them and warm up a little

 

It sounds like it has a sports exhaust, I mean you can hear the car starting up in the garage at the front of the house in the back bedroom, but after a wee while it is quiter on the move. My dad has noticied it has been a wee bit quieter lately

 

i have a 1.2 duratec my car is noisey when it 1st starts up its to do with the automatic choke! its idleling faster than normal. if you watch the rev counter u see the revs lower after time
