Default Just Test Driven a New Focus ST...........

As title really - Missus wants a new car so it seemed the obvious choice to look at after our success with the Focus RS,

My 1st impression was it looked very very good in the ford Racing Blue - much better than i expected...... But my last 2 cars have both been this colour so im trying to talk myself into either the Red or the Orange (Missus really like the orange !!!! )

When it started i was a little dissapointed as on the TV it def had a nice Burble to the exhaust note - but once revved this was the case - sounded like an old Audi Quattro (I'm sure we can get a nice Milltek sytem developed pretty quicly )

When out on the road the 1st thing i noticed was that it was much bumpier around town than my RS was - not a bad thing by any means but this car is ment to be for the wife and kids

I only did about 5 miles but it was enough to convince me i ought to buy one to tinker with (anyone got 19k spare ) The low down torque is very impressive and the power delivery is nice and smooth, It sounds fookin lovely when opened up the 5 cylinders are singing away just right...

I Liked it oh and so did the wife

As a std car - Yes

the spec and build quality is to a much higher standard, and the top spec ST 3 is about the same price as the RS when new and has all the extras

Was doing some work at a local Ford garage last week + the spec sheet on the ST display said, and I quote "Recaro look seats", made me wonder if Ford have done a similar thing?

Very tempted to buy one

I can get a ST 3 fully loaded for just over 15k

was thinking of buying one just for 6 months then sell it on and hopefully not lose any money.

there is some device built into the engine bay of the car that takes the sound from near the intake at the front up to the bulk head to amplify it so the driver can here a sporty sound when its given big throttle!!

sounded a bit pony to me but from what you say its working!!

Yes It will be a little complicated sorting first one thats why I would buy the one without traction control, Cool looking car temped for one myself but I feel a Scooby is calling.

The problem with the no Traction cars is that they also lack the higher spec o fxenon lights and better stereo - also on the ST3 you get full leather - which is a must with 2 kiddies

Not sure if you know but it runs a Bosch ECU if that helps at all

I went to a local ford dealers on tues night for the launch of the st focus ,,
Sorry to say i thought it was a very ugly car , shite wheels , shite trim , and felt very cheap on the inside , the front end pannels didnt line up correct ( and it was the same on all 4 cars the had there ) the bumpers and side skirts were all a totaly different shade , And whats the great big badges on the wings all about looked like a chav add on

I hever drove one so cant comment ,,but i deffo wouldnt buy one
