Just got home and had a message to call the Manager at my local GAME store, before close of business tonight. I must admit I started to think the inevitable, since it had already been confirmed I was getting one earlier in the week!

I have just got off the phone and it was basically to confirm my XBOX360 was in and waiting for me! And what games did I want to reserve for tomorrow at a discounted price.

Two packs are apparently available:

1) 4 games of my choice and the XBOX full package @ £440
2) All 10 launch games and the XBOX full package @ £770

I decided to take advantage of one of the offers (making the games £40 each as opposed to £50 each) and have put aside:

PGR3
Call Of Duty
Need 4 Speed - Most Wanted
Project Dark Zero

I know what I will be doing tomorrow!

I'm keeping my eyes on fleabay now.... I know a US one with 1 game went for £600 this week!

didn't get mine from play.com they don't know when they're getting anymore either.

 

so what do they think is gunna be better? the PS3 or Xbox? i played one yesterday with king kong, and i have to say, it did look as though it was struggling to keep up (a bit like a pc would) with the GFX. Was VERY slow in some places too.

 

I got my 2 premium packs delivered to my door this morning, 1 day before official release date, been spending most of the day playing on Condemned: Criminal Origins and PGR3

I still, as always, had to get both tho. 2 of each

hope it's only a few months before we see the PS3, but I can see it being delayed quite a bit

I suggest you start to do a bit of research on what each console is capable of before you reach that conclusion (whether that is what is now and what is pipedreams - as regards to the PS3).

And of course...... the PS3 might as well be only 10p and have 15 times the power of the XBOX360, if it aint available now it aint worth shit!

Your opinion has been driven by hype, and nothing more!

Sure the PS3 *should* be at least on par with a 360..... but do you really think stuff can be progressed that much more, even in the next 12 months? The XBOX360 is already as if not more powerful than the best PC Rig you can buy for gaming, so I can't see much more being progressed, especially since the dev kits for the PS3 are already in use based on technology available NOW.

At the end of the day I don't really care which one is the best as I will get them both in anycase, but it is interesting to read peoples views, especially when a lot of them are based on pure hype and what others are banding around the gospel called the internet.

 

TBH i dont know anything about the hype of the PS3, i am just going on what the paying public will decieded...........

And i believe that the PS3 will have the hold on the market as did all sony products in the PS generations.

So therefore more people owning them.......more games......more enjoyment.........

I'm with Tiff....Never been an X Box man, was in Oxford Street monday playing Battlefield on the 360, yes it looked good....but that shonky controller Roll on PS3 with GT5 and Resi 5!

Perhaps the major revelation though is one which the Reporter infers from its conversation with Stringer, saying: "The company soon will unveil a line of compact, portable video devices to fill the time gap before PlayStation 3 launches in Japan in March and in the US a year from now." While that's not exactly a set in stone date, it kind of ties in with what we'd expect, with the PS3 launching in time for next Christmas in the US and hopefully European territories too.

I understand your rose tinted PS glasses!

While I suspect the PS3 will dominate Asia, the XBOX360 (based on what the XBOX has achieved in the rest of world) will probably be the dominant hardware in Europe and USA.

The question of games has took a HUGE swing since the take off of the XBOX, as regarding most games now being mutli platform. TBH, the PS probably only has as many exclusive titles as the MS platform now.

IMHO, Sony had it easy in the latest round of consoles. Maybe this would of been all different if the Dreamcast hadnt been shelved...... which fortunately is not a problem MS should encounter (they have more money to throw at this scene than Sony and Nintendo put together).

Perhaps this is like saying Cossies are better than Scoob's (and we all know how untrue that is lol)...... but at the end of the day, like these car marques, you have to own both to appreciate the good and the bad in both!
