i know before anyone goes off on one at me like a few do on here, but i just saw this on the news. i know it was a horrible sad thing that has happened BUT as for having forensic doing test etc for graffiti cause something bad was written...to me is a waste of police time. it doesnt say forensics here but on TV it did and showed them there.

is it anymore harmful than having your car stereo nicked in real terms though and people want those people catching and the police to do a good effort.

its likely to be a PR thing aswell though... so probably worth the expensive of a few guys for a shortwhile to let the people who are acting this way that people are taking it seriously.

i'd sooner them do this than sit in traffic cars trying to catch motorists

You are right i think about it being more a PR thing,but the Plod around here have been brilliant since this happened,they worked hard with the community to bring these scumbags to justice.....

I know exactly what you mean about Black on White racism though,have seen it regularly.......Good to see the courts are recognising it as well...

Oh and merseyside is one of the best places to own a performance car....All the plod are petrolheads and are just as likely to own one as well..

 

I really struggle to understand some peoples' way of thinking sometimes. They see one news item and then pass an inane comment about it, without engaging the brain and looking into the overall picture of it or checking out any of the background.

Liverpool was chosen to be the European Capital of Culture in 2008. This is a prestigious award and will draw an estimated extra 2m visitors to the city and will create about 14,000 new jobs. Liverpool has always been one of the major cities trying to stamp out racism, so obviously, racist graffiti so callously daubed so shortly near the scene after an horrific racist murder will be treated seriously. Even without the city preparing for 2008, it should still be treated seriously, as it's plainly clear that there could still be racist groups and who knows, commit another mindless murder.

If you have kids 'diamonds' or have any in the future, there's cause for concern to how you are/will be raising them with the attitude you seem to have.

Sorry if my opinions offend people, I am in no way racist, but i think there needs to be a shake up of the system and make racial hate crime charges the same for both sides, blacks and whites.

also, you don't wanna get me started on the governments proposition to introduce hanging again for people who kill coppers. Anyone who takes another life should be hanged, not just coppers

A girl was recently stabbed to death by her boyfriend near me and found in a burnt out car...not a twinkle of it on the news appealing for witnesses or anything..because she was white!

The same as the copper who died! there was a copper stabbed to death in bham about a year ago! why was that not all over the news?

I have a lot of culture mixed into my family, indian, italian, french, welsh, and my step brother is asian. Even he thinks racism isall one way, towards the white guy.

Thats the problem with this country, everyone pussy foots around trying not to offend other cultures.

If i had my way, racism would apply to blacks and whites, if i gt called a honky, i'd expect them to have the same punishment as if i called him the equivelent.

Never gonna happen though I think what we need is a black prime minister who has his head screwed on right, and applies what i mentioned.

i put this up to see what others think to this, not just i think its a waste of time.
i think that asking questions about if anyone saw it and clean it off is fair play but as for forensics coming in to it i thought was "over the top". thats why i put a ? after my title "bit over the top?" not titled what a waste of time i think having forensics for graffiti personally is. thats my view on it.

 

IMO what was daubed graffiti wise was disgusting - they should be banged up as well. Irrespective of colour or creed, that young lad has a family and friends who cared. How must his mum be feeling now ? How would you feel if one of your family members was killed, irrespective of whether you or the offender were of opposite race ? This isn't me getting of my high horse, I just feel for his family and friends.

Diamonds - you are entitled to your opinion mate, and whether I agree or disagree doesn't matter, you voiced it in a demcratic society with diplomacy. Fair play mate.

Snowy Astra - agree with you mate.........racism is a 2 way thing and whatever way it goes it shouldn't go unpunished. I too have a real good Asian mate and this whole racism thing drives him mad !!!!

 

Personally I think graffitti of any insulting nature to any race should be removed and investigated.

See what people mean about racism working both ways though. A lot of the time it does seem that political correctness goes only one way.

An an example:

My old man was stabbed (he's a public school bursar!) with his own pen by a Black delivery driver over an argument about his driving. (Was driving like a c-unt round a school site). When my old man phoned the police they didn't want to know. The only reason they took it up in the end is because he reminded them time and time again that it was a racist attack (He called him a 'White c-unt' etc). When it went to court the cocksucker got off easily with the 'superior white man did this and I'm just a lowly black man trying to make an honest living cr@p.' Funny because if it was the other way around I'm sure the whole world would have gone up in arms.

All for action as long as there's a level playing field when it comes to racism.
