Just wontering how stable the prices are? Do they depreciate much over the course of a year?
What are good thing to look for Full Ford service history? Are any colours more appealing than others etc??

The most popular colour seems to be imperial blue large turbo cars with leather. These are as rare as Chip turning down the opportunity of bum sex with Cally though
.
Finding a good one is a mission and then the good ones command healthy prices even now. Anything below the Ł10k mark is likely to be a basket case or have a dubious history.
Expect to pay Ł15+k for a good solid one with a traceable history.
One with all the bits on is worth a bit more than one without. Only buy a highly modded one if the engine has been done by someone reputable. Watch out for the transmission though, as above 350bhp, it really needs replacing with Quaife or Fixit gearkits.

.Drive it like you stole it
.They have so far, so I don't see that changing much. Good ones still change hand at around the Ł15k mark
.People used to laugh at spending Ł15k on an Escort a few years ago when Evo 6s were selling second hand for nearly Ł20k. Those same Evos are now Ł10-11k and the SAME Escorts are still Ł13-15k. Pretty much as good as you'll get depreciation proof (apart from the fact that you end up spending a fortune on them
).

I'm deffinately not a bufty. lol
And the motto is sideways to victory! lmao
I've always wanted one, even if it was only for a year or so. The idea was to get a loan for the required ammount have a year or so of fun, sell it on. Then try and recoupe some of the losses when it's sold on. I understant that its going to cost to keep it on the road, but then most cars do! But i dont want to buy one and make a major loos on the vehicle too.
Make sence? Or am I just being silly as usuall?!

As Mike said, peeps favour Imperial Blue/Jewell Violet (very rare). Modified ones can "appear" to be good value BUT unless it's been done by a reputable company I would be very cautious about purchasing one.
Above all, if you are going to look at one prior to purchase, take someone along who knows these cars very well to inspect it. IMO best to let them drive it too as they will have a better "feel" for the car, and easily pick up faults/potential problems.
Aaaahhhhh Cossies and Bank Loans
Those fuckers go hand in hand, Cossies love Bank Loans and Credit Cards.
Hope ya not one of those"oh Im just gonna keep it standard" type, then 2 months in " ooh go on then a Stage 1 chip and Zorst wont hurt it", then 6 months in "wow look at them greens," then OMG I have to have that Pro Alloy Intercooler", then "well my T3 cant take much more , better get a T34
Honestly mate when that attitude sets in......and it will thats when ya "investment" goes out of the window and youre into it big time

I bought an Aubergine small turbo model in April this year. I paid just a snip under 17k for it. Was 29k miles. no air con, no leather! Was as youd expect mint.... Sold it for more than i paid BUT...
Was a hassle. If you want to make sure you have a good resale value and appeal, then go for a big turbo with leather and aircon... As said imperial blue os the most popular, but if you find a low mileage one in pristine condition for under 18k then youve as good as won the lottery
In my experience of both Small turbo and Big turbo escorts, both under 30k miles and immaculate id give you this advice. Go for a big turbo, with about 45-50k miles, few little mods, plenty of history and not too many owners. Something you can enjoy and not just polish...but is nice enough to be proud of and will hold its value round what youd expect to pay for one at this level...around 14k

Mongo, bad idea for you i think personally, you drive FAR too hard to own an escos and not spend an absolute fortune on it, you cant just rape it around the lanes like you did your 230bhp nova mate, its just going to break constantly, especially the gearbox with how you drive, and thats a right ballache of a job.

In short I want to own one for pritty much the same reason as all of the other owners. I.e it's an iconic car, which is/was every boy's dream to own one.

Buy the right car, keep it standard and the miles down and you won't lose much money it.
The problem is finding the right car!
Polaris Grey is a pretty rare colour too.
I'd just like to add there's been some really good advice on this thread so far, if you take notice of what these guys are saying then you won't go far wrong.

I saw a nice 'N reg' Auralis Blue one with 280bhp for sale last Saturday, fully chromed engine bay, lux model with leather etc at a dealers. I had a good nosey round it and it was a very nice example for Ł15k. Was owned by an RSOC member.
TBH.. if the car is the right car... fuck the colour IMO..
saying that.. i wouldnt have a white, auralis blue or a jewel violet one I dont think
Found mine easily about 3 years ago.. 1 owner from new (60 yr old) had done 40k. Mint as you like with a few light mods. Ł14k
Still.. as for resale value .. I put mine as it stands now at well over Ł20k.. so it will probably only ever be broken up for parts

The fact is that Imperial Blue is one of the most desirable colours of Escort Cosworth.
Whereas White, Mallard and Red are all quite undesirable.
White & Mallard...........Undesirable........I take it thats your opinion then.
I know of one imperial blue owner in the esc cos forum, compared to the other colour ranges, to me that says its not that much of desirable colour!
What colour do you own then?
FRS was the only car it suited really.
EDITED - 2 forgot about Cola's
