Default Gauge Still Reading Hot!!!

Right my gauge will read hot after about 10mins of driving. i personally think its now a electrical fault. ive changed loads of bits and it has never over heated and ive had this problem now for approx 4/5mths. i do run a GRS and 1 fan (got another on the way) BUT it never had a problem b4 of this....even in these freezing conditions it reads just under the red.

ive changed the dash clocks
water pump
sender
thermostat and also put in now christian&beccys lower temp thermo
flushed the rad out loads of times
use coolent and water
tried running the fan running constant
the fan cuts in correctly
done a block test all ok there
a my mate (a breakdown tech) used his snap on infra red temp reader on all hoses

but it still reads just under the red even when i got the hot air blowing through if i dont it rises. it probably will be ok if i dont put the air on as it should of cooked itself by now or over heated but i just dont wanna take a risk

I would find out why your horns and hazzards dont work!

The best way to find out about the water temp for sure is with another gauge that reads what the temp is in digital format as the old type gauges in the escorts are naff.

Then you would know for sure.

My water temp runs at 78degree most of the time regardless of the temps outside. I now know where on the dash gauge 78degree is... if it runs above or below this at any given time i know there is a problem.

Your temps could be around the same but your gauge just reads wrong..

Or it could be reading right which would need more investigation..

HTH

Sounds like you've made a good effort to change parts too....can't think of much else it could be if you have a problem, maybe a hairline crack in the header tank or cap? Worth replacing if standard and can be purchased new from Ford.

I'd deffo get the other fan on the car tho, also install a manual fan switch....and try putting the fans on the rad if possible!

You can buy temp gauge's from maplin for around £5 not very quick but will give you the general idea of the temp even if it is 30sec late
