Every time Severn Valley gets mentioned on here, it's a good thread!

Well, no doubt they have built some great car's over the year's, but I have heard load's of bad stories about them, that would be enough for me to steer clear.

last time i remember that name was way back when they were the fastest fwd or something

whats gone wrong from then to now?

a bit of gossip is always good for a quite afternoon in the office

mind you, PTS had the same sort of rep and more than a efw people warned me off of power engineering (though i have never had anything other than top service from them and also because they are 10 minutes down the road from me )
alan jeffries also get the big from me ebcause he sorted out 2 new turbos when the oil pipe let go after only 40 miles

anyone want to start a wall of shame then?
worst tuner and resons why?

i've never had any tuner give me duff service so it's also nice to see if i'm in the minority here

I know of a guy who had a car built by them, he said they were spot on at the start although the work being done was very expensive. He ended up driving a couple of hundred miles to leave the car off, they give him a rough guess as to how long it would take to be complete, they also told him they had everything they needed in stock to build the car up and give him a list of the upgraded part's that would be used. When he phoned them back at the time they said it would take they hadn't even started yet because they had to wait on "special" piston's coming from America ( what happened to "we have everything in stock" ) which would apparently take 6 - 8 week's for arrival. After that he waited it out a bit and phoned back a few week's later and they still hadn't finished anything yet! Once the car was eventually completed he went to collect it, they had the car sitting out on the forecort with all staff flanking the car - kind of like an unveiling in a sense. He had the car a couple of week's when the driveshaft's snapped in half, on inspection he realised it was still using the stock driveshaft's ( the car had an approx 5 fold increase in power ). He immediately got on the phone to them as on his spec list that they give him it said that heavy duty shaft's were included in the price, when he confronted them they tried to charge him a packet for new heavy duty shaft's!

As I said, they have built some great car's, but their reputation is very poor for ripping people off, they also have too many "special" and "secret" part's on their car's and claim some bullshit power figure's - the yellow Ka for example is meant to be 550bhp ( 600bhp including nitrous ) but the car run's a stock RS turbo exhaust manifold ( 300bhp maximum flow rating if I remember right ) and a T35 turbo ( RS500 T4's have a tough time getting 550bhp let alone a T35 ).

I remember when they servised my RsTurbo.
It was good that they only changed 3 plugs and the car was soo slow to what it was before it went in.

Also my mate had the cam seals done there on his saff, again we were pleased when the cam pulleys fell off on the way home.

Waste of time, avoid at all costs.

It just show's you then that they went from "tuning" ( rather untuning ) Ford's to MoT servicing. Something has obviously happened for them to have a fall like that.

Do you live near them stuart collins?

Thought it was Thames Valley Motorsport that did the lotus. I may be wrong but if they did the workshop looked alot different to when I had my FRST set up there about 5 years ago.

Had my motor set up by Darren there (Like I said 5 years) ago and the service was spot on that day.

Stayed and watched whilst they did all the work and I was impressed anyway.
