Default Spigot Bearing

Benn havin a few probz with my 4x4 saff last couple of days an it not going into gear at all when running an have discovered tonight once the box was off the sipgot bearing has been mashed to bits can anyone tell me why this has happened or what may have caused it to colapse it surley cant have just fell apart for no reason just seems funny that its the only thing thats gone box an clutch seemto be fine

This happened a sierra i had about 5 years ago ,it then was a late 92 model ,just a normal lx tho ,and the local mechanic who is about 65 or so now said he only ever saw this once before and is stumped aswell !!!

Is a cheap fix tho !!

Same here mate the guy who is doing it with me said he thought it may have been that before we got the box off but said he had never ever seen one actualy go before just so happens he has 3 of them in his garage aswell i can use i am just baffled as to why it would fook plus the remains of what is left is proving to be a little bugger to get out

Yes when he phoned me to tell me what it was i was shocked , my mate is a mechanic for him and he said laters that it was a total bastard to remove cause of the state it was in ,a lot of ffing and blinding went on

sounds about right mate we gave up after fookin my screwdriver oh well get me new clutch tomorrow an am borrowing a dremal thingmabobbie from escyscott to try an persused it to come out with that will see how things go once box an clutch is back on fingers crossed

it will be fine matey !! Its summit i have been expectin on ma cossie ,but i might throw a new clutch in next year anyway and have a good check at same time on the

Got the box an new bearing along with a new clutch on tonight and everything seems fine so fingers crossed i wont have any more bother with a dreaded SPIGOT BEARING again i would advise anyone doing a clutch on there cossie to put one in to be on the safe side



Wonder what will fook next hhhmmmmmmmmmm

Its inside the hole that the gearbox shaft is put into when you put the box back on i think its part of the outer crank

its push if in side a hole in the crank the nose off the gear box shaft rest on the bearing its a needle bearing thing
