it's only the fiesta rs turbo's that are efi and you need a loom anyway if you want to put a turbo lump in your escort

That's right. Some of the last ERST came with an EFI-Lump so they could be used in FRST with OT-Sensor. But all EFIs could be used with KE-Jetronic

EFI it'll say "EFI" on the inlet manifold. . easiest way

MFI it'll have a wide inlet, metering unit behind pass side headlight

NEVER seen a std ERST with a factory fitted EFI engine not even a J plate?

pmsl! i realisewd that bit!

i also saw this on another website

quoted from RSBIBLE.co.uk
"The Fiesta RS also benefits from having the hole drilled in the block, to allow for the CPS. Rumour has it that late 'H' plate S2's also came with this block, so this could be used. The other option is to drill the hole yourself, which would not be overly difficult, just ensure that you get it in the right place."

mine is a H plate registered in November so i was wondering whether my engine could be one of the 'special ones' lol

where abouts on the block would the CPS be....? im a complete amateur!

im SURE it's on the gearbox side, it measures holes on the flywheel, so prob behind the flywheel!

unless your engiens ever been changed for an earlier one

make a bracket, get a 1.8cvh pulley and put it on the cambelt side

The hole for the CPS is located on the block. Just above the starter motor, facing towards the rear of the flywheel.

No Factory Escort RS Turbo was fitted with EFi unfortunately only KE.

I wouldn't call it unfortunately. There's more tuning potential in the KE than the EFI...

I have both EFi and MFi

Can't really say I prefer either one. Both work well and neither give me cause to complain

Engine (inluding head / charge carrier)
Turbo
Inlet Manifold (Inluding injectors etc...)
Exhaust Manifold
ERST Loom
ECU
Intercooler
All pipes that are need (I/C Hose etc...)
Better Brakes! lol

Thats what I reckon - probablly get told otherwise though, and ive probablly missed a few bits out.

Everyones entitled to their own opinion, I would say thats untrue though.

Hardly more tuning potential. 5th injectors and the like, hardly ideal. The KE was good in it's day. It's not reliable though, it has moving parts, which in my experience is never a good thing. On my RS I had to replace the metering head four times over the term of around six years. I fitted EFi, and have had trouble free motoring for just over two. Not to mention the excellent fuel economy.

There are EEC-IV equipped vehicles running 300-350bhp cars. How much can KE handle before you have to add on hit and miss 5th injectors? Nowhere near I would imagine.

I'm not saying you should rush out and change your car to EFi. If you KE is working fine then great. But in a position of doing an engine conversion, then EFi is the only choice.

Jimmyboy, Thats about right mate.

How long is a piece of string! hehehe

Depends on a couple things :

a) are you going to have original parts (ie original turbo / intercooler) or go for uprated parts? GRS / Samco hoses etc...

b) buying it in bits / one lot

If you buy it in bits it is probablly gonna cost you more. I think your best bet would be to try and find a rotten out S2 and see if you can get it for a couple hundred quid, that way everything you will need will be there.

I reckon your looking anywhere between Ł200 - Ł1500, depending on buying it in bits / whole etc... / new parts etc...

Your best bet is to have a look on ebay mate dont think you be geting a complete car for Ł200 id say your looking at more like Ł500-Ł900 keep an eye on the parts section on here as there are people that have had everything to do a conversion up for sale before.
