Default Stater motor test.. ?

Is there a simple way to test of the start motor is nackered? Car has suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. Turn the key and all the usual noises happen (fuel pump etc) but nothing when i turn the key the last notch. Got to be starter related, but is there an easy way to check before i replace it?

Cheers,
dan

take it off, connect jump leads to battery other ends to the starter, if it pops out and spins it's fine. .

Or you could simply just join the big terminal to the small terminal and see if it cranks the engine over...

put the car in gear, push it forward a tuny bit then take out of gear and see if the starter chucks in, i remember myu old orion had a sticky point thingy and i had to hit it with hammer to unstick it

never knew how easy it is to change a starter motor

Check the small push fit wire on the starter first as these corrode and can cause the symptoms you describe
