front mount intercooler for s1
been thinking about this for a while, as you all know the intercooler is in a very poor position on the s1. i already have a double size pace intercooler on there but i want to run more boost and also consistently yesterday the car was flying but when its a bit warmer its like another car!!
so any ideas or best value for money??? tried and tested? i know GRS do one for 300 plus you need the thin kenlowe to squeeze in. i must also say i dont was to change the look of the car or cut silly holes away. personally it spoils the look of the car. ideally want to keep the looks of the s1.
any advice will be appreciated.

GRS!!! It's keeping 2-Bar of boost cool on mine.
BUT, as I always say, with any large FMIC on an RST, you MUST make sure that the cooling system is 100% or you will have cooling issue's. Made worse if you don't want to alter your bumper to improve Airflow.

I went for a charge cooler on my series 1 ( not as good as a front mount at keepint the act's down) but was the best thing for the job without the need for cutting bits of the car and altering the look of the car.
O and its still brand new and for sale if your interested

I know the S1 is a little tighter for space than the S2, but take a look at Tony Turbo's car in the the Resto section.
It is possible to fit a large cooler and not alter the front end.
It is also possible to make subtle improvement to the Bumper etc to improve airflow, but not alter shape.

Also while your there, have a look at billycabrio escort cabriolet resto, Thats a mk3 escort with a pro alloy front mount.
Only had very minimal cutting to the bumper and still looks origional.
I have one for the missis s1 but havent fitted it yet.

How about relocating the number plate on the s1 onto the front valance, then put 5 circular holes in the metal bumper section with a little mesh
More sublte than choppin lots of metal out?

I wouldnt say theirs much need to cut an S1 bumper, it doesnt cover very much of the front end at all, the grill is pretty open for airflow aswell and underneath air will be scooped up by the front spoiler into the big gap on the front panel!
plenty of airflow IMO
