Default Diesel gearbox in series 2

Hey peeps, i am about to have a new clutch in my series 2 which is pushing out 170bhp, is it worth me putting a diesel gearbox in, as my is old and done alot of miles, if so will the diesel fit straight in, cheers

Yes the diesel one will fit but it's a complete waste of time and money. Despit ethe common myth it is no stronger than the RS Turbo item and also has no LSD.

Leave it till it breaks then contact Bernie at CTS www.gearboxman.co.uk his boxes are very very good and fairly priced to boot

well we did it to my mates because it only cost him 40 quid for the box and it was a quick and very cheap fix for the time being..........then we drove from notts to london to collect some wheels off ebay and to my amazment it pulled like a train !!!!! we was doing 90mph at 3000 revs!!!.............no lies if you have any questions i will be willing to ask him for you!!

i think its improvment on what he had! might not be the best fix but it was still a very good one

Default gearbox

Diesel box are no stronger but are a good conversion. pulls like a train slite modification (bit of grinding) needed but a cheap and fun conversion

Great conversion, no LSD so all the power goes up in tyre smoke .

My FRST has no LSD and it's a pig compared to my Escort that does. An ERST box is on the shopping list for it

im sure ford put the rst gearbox with lsd in their for a reason! when my lsd got fooke the car was a pain to drive but with a new gearbox with a fully working lsd its brilliant, dont be a tite arse and dont take shortcuts complete waste of time. The diesel box is probably made to take low down torque so all this it pulls like a train is utter bollox

ive got a low milage s2 box to go in but my engines in a mk5 van so i need to change the caseing or get a mounting braket made
yes i get one wheel spinning all over the place in the wet and its hard to control so yes lsd is a must
ill check which gearbox i have in it later today but 70 at 3000 revs i think is carp
