Default Impressed by RST 3inch Mongoose

Not a bad echaust at all. Fitted it to a mate's S2, and considering it's a 3inch bore, it's pretty damn quiet. Not intrusive on idle or when cruisng, just gets a litte boomy on boost around 4k. Thought it would be deafening, but quite civilised

Love the one on the new RS. makes the right sound at the right times.
Not wishing to start a war but I rate it far higher than magnex. Better build too.

I think Rick is referring the 3" bore as opposed to 2.5". There is no such thing as a 4" bore exhaust for RST's.

I have the 3" bore, 4" tailpipe and was also very surprised by the quietness of it. It's not quite so quiet now, but that was self-inflicted.

It's the mongoose 3" bore system, it has a 4" tailpipe. I had one on my RST. Top quality exhaust! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than magnex.

how did you find fitting it, i did one recently and it was a bitch to fit and none of the clamps would hold it up tight enough which allowed it to sag alot so had to get it held up and welded in position

nice exhaust just a shit fit i thought

I like the way most people think they have a 3in bore Mongoose, not very easy to get hold of and are a pain to fit (so I hear)

3in bore Mongoose exhausts are meant for BIG bhp cars, I mean BIG bhp, not run of the mill 230bhp (2.5in bore easily matches spec of car then)

Ah well, I know Christian's is WAY quieter than it ever used to be, but as you say when on boost - can certainly hear it coming LOL

Its important to note that the larger the exhaust, the lower the back pressure. On a car that doesn't require the flow level that the 3" exhaust will provide, it will probably feel slower and less responsive.

On a 250+bhp RST, I think the benefits are worthwhile though.
