Default When aiming for approx 360ish

will any major improvements be seen in response/drivability etc through changing cams and or having mild headwork.

Is any benefit worth the extra outlay, or is the std cams and head properly verniered up the best value for money option?

Ta.

is it true that verniers are not the best option to adjust timing on any cam as they expand at different rates causing tension in the belt or is it a myth

Pon and Chop

OK, the engine has racked up 87K now. Do the cossie cams suffer the same fate as the RST ones in that they wear quite badly? If I have to change the cams because of wear is it then worthwhile getting a different Cam(s)?

My car seems fine on the standard head and cams, its very drivable with very little lag, the power and pickup in 4th is unreal from 70 mph

Paul who is building it?

Mine is on light blues and std cams, std ish head (new block) all the other gubbins etc

T34 A/R.48 375brake on the dyno, so should easily break 350 in the car, that was my request a SAFE strong 350/360..

Could I still stick with t34 .48 if I chose to go to 400's ? or would the .63 be better?

My mate has a Harvey Gibbs built engine in his 3 door running 400's

a moddest 380bhp holding 1.9 bar, quite sure its on a .48.

My engine is lowered compression, ported head, standard cams, Level 6, 803's, would like to see about 340bhp from it but interested in taking the power up a bit for when I get it dynoed before it finally goes in my car.

Not sure wether to just leave it as it is as it was good in the car it came from but being a very fresh build and after driving my mates 3 door I do fancy a bit more h/p, and his engine produces the sort of power I think would be plenty in a mk2 escort.

decisions decisions

cant really miss it now due to it graphics !

anyway, only thing between yours and mine is I'm on a group A gasket,

good luck with the final mapping then mate,

a slightly more serious spec than I can afford to go for now, think I'll just stick to the 803's and just enjoy sticking the arse out everywhere till I can afford to change for a better spec

cheers for the info though

Steve Scott did mine - L8, light blues, standard cams, T34 with .55 housing, air injectors running approx 375-380bhp, 1.9psi boost and has been 100% reliable for 2 and a half years.

Don't know yet Damo. I haven't decided if the whole thing is coming apart yet or wether it will just be the top end. Bottom end still seems sound at 87K.

Amended especially for you Chop... 1.9 bar or to be precise holds 27.9psi and peaks at about 30-31psi
