Default 12PSI - WHY?

Howdy,

I got my rs turbo set up with std boost/ignition timing etc

It boosted to 7psi, and ran perfect!

few months later, i noticed it boosted to 12psi? it did hesitate if you put your foot to the floor, but if you do it slowly it boosted fine, no hesitation probs.
Took it out not long ago, was fine, still boosting to 12psi, but no miss-fire?

it kinda goes like:

d-d-d-d-*pop*(from exhaust)

new fuel tank wasnt exactly mint inside, plug leads are shite, new plugs, dizzy im not sure what nick it is in.

Just wondering really what reason it would suddenly decide to hit 12psi? ive no bleed valve, piped up via amal valve, im sure it has a turbosystems chip, any ideas? and am i right in thinking it will be fine (ign timing/fueling) if it hits 12psi and IS infact chipped? (didnt hit overboost so i assume it is?)

If its doing the d-d-d-d-*pop* then you are hitting the boost limit which means the ECU isnt chipped otherwise it would keep pulling instead of hitting the boost limiter

Davie, it boosts to 12psi no bother if you dont bring the boost in hard is which i dont understand
Ive got a feeling it's the plug leads and it's gotta be chipped if it has a -31 unless someones swapped ECU's
It doesnt feellike boost cut, it's like a missfire

AND WHY IS IT SUDFDENLY HITING 12 PSI

addiction, yes i know. but it's likely to be if it has a -31 (unless as i said someone has wapped ECU's)

Why else would you fit a -31? to run more boost. . . and what do you need to do that? a chip

it would have benefit's on a car that was not chipped.

i was only saying that just because it has -31,do'esnt mean it's gonna definately be chipped. dont have a cow man

Mooo

but you really only fit one when you fit a chip that's all i was meaning, no need if it aint chipped, so wouldnt be that beneficial

still dont understand why it hits 12psi

have you recently been over the vacuum pipes etc recently? i noticed mine would sometimes peak at 8-9psi even though its ran 7normally...however it stopped doing it and when i went over the engine tightening all the vacuum and boost hoses...im now peaking at 9.5-10psi where Ahmed originally set it up at

and it may be down to the weather..this cold damp weather means slight more boost

Dave, I think that the weather conditions sometimes has an effect on pressures. Mine runs 1 bar (14psi) held but has been known to hit 1.3 (19psi) when the weather is cool/moist!

I thought that Daz, whenever it's been out it has been cold but didnt think it would rise so much, could be right tho, would coincide anyway!

what effect would it have if the anal valve packed up?

amel valve is proberly goosed as it acts as a restrictor for the boost so if it isnt working it will boost to what ever the actuator rod is set at

take off the actuator rod and unscrew it 1 full turn which will then be aprox 2psi less

dont forget if your running more boost it will need more fuel and you said it was set up on 8 psi, so if you want to keep the new boost limit you will need to get it set up again
