Chargecooler or Intercooler ?????
What would be the best option for cooling charge air in a FRST? My bro has been offered a charge cooler kit at a reasonable price but I have always stuck with intercoolers. What are the benefits/limitations on both?
i always liked the chargecooler on my old fez, kept everything cool with no hint of any problems, of course there is always the issue of pump reliability with them. Plus they don't look as balls out as a big front mount, whether that's good or bad is different person to person. I only ran between 16-18 pi at about 230 bhp and mine was spot on , whether it would have been at higher boost levels i dunno. Some people like them some don't , I do
I ran a chargecooler on my fez when I had my 1750cc and it was perfect with 20psi.
I suppose it depends how much boost you are planning to run and the capacity of your engine as I think they have a limit.
I've moved onto a 2.1 now and the chargecooler was not sufficient as the inlet size is 2.5
Thanks

i loved my CC, ok heat soak is more of an issue in traffic, but you dont need low charge temps in traffic do ya!
and on the move water is a better heat exchanger than air, but like said mega boost would need IC
