Default Z3 M Coupe! Your thoughts! Info wanted!

A M8 of mine has been looking at Z3 M Coupe's not quite as bling as the above! But hey its a nice pic right?

Not to everyones tastes I appreciate, almost love it or hate it type car, that said I think the above looks !

Anyhow I said I try find out as much as possible for her so anyone with any comments/experiences with them (Nath R ) please fire away.

So far Ive gathered there are 2 power plants the S50(E36 M3 EVO Powered) models & S52(E46 M3 Powered) later models.

Any other info/experience of them is a bonus!

Thanks in advance!

Nice engines very quick cars.

You can get them sideways really easily

2 types of engine as you say, one has 321bhp the other has 325bhp?
I have driven the roadster version and was very impressed with the car. The brakes are amazing as well

A workmate had a m roadster, didnt have it long before it knocked no4 and 6 bigend out. Apparently this is a commen problem with the m-tech evo motors. In his experience ALL the people he has know who have the same 3.2 motor has done the same . He said it has something to do witht the oilways on the crank or something. O and the vanos unit is another weak point apparently. That said i would love 1 as i really like the m coupe not keen on the m roadster though

One of my friends works in a bmw bodyshop and he has had quite a few in where they tear the back end off!! The rear axle mounts snap and take the floor with it. Apart from that i would!!

Look like a shoe but everything else makes up for that. Not my cup of tea though.

One of those cars you have to drive once in your life

Didnt think the E46 ran "Vanos" ??

The engine issues are inherent from the E46 ... running big ends out was a common problem rectified under warranty usually, either with a new crate engine or rebuild at the dealership, as you say it was due to oil starvation at higher RPM... if this is the case with the E46engined ZM Coupe also, then I would be looking for one which has HAD a new engine under warrenty IMO otherwise coud prove expensive

Or IIRC post autum 2003 production engines were the redesigned type

Alot of good info on www.bm3w.com (or co.uk)
