while this is up here.
Are the standard cossie Rods the weak point of the engine?
(or least strong point)

if they are not, what is?

thanks!

Nope, standard pistons are the weak link. Cosworth or other forged ones are required for above 500bhp.

As Gareth and Mike Standard rods are a little heavy to be using much over 8200 rpm but are as strong as old boots

The YB was made as it was for homologation reasons, GrpA rules at time stated they had to use standard crank and rods, so they had to be able to take 500bhp+ for a full race with no probs, so strong as fuck

Same as why standard RB26 crank and rods are silly strong.

det.

piston in cyl moving up while det tries to push the thing down equals bent rods.

esp as in cyl pressure in det is massivley more than normal
