Default PC Games - Advice Needed!

Right, I'm about to get back online with BB and will be fixing my PC to get back in business

It's a good enough spec to run most games, so that's not an issue. All I want to know is what games to look at for it. I'm not really up on PC games as all I like are Command and Conquer (I have generals Zero Hour) , star wars stuff, and footy management (I'll be buying FM 2006).

What's out there that I can play online with others, preferrably something C&C stylee with team play, but anything online that you feel I might like will be looked into.

Come on guys, I know there's a few gamers on here, so let's see if you can help

CraigN

Is that one of the free servers mate? Don't fancy paying

spooner11153
I have got FM 2005 yes, but I found it hard to get into to be honest. I got wound up cause I signed some really good players yet still got beat by relegation fodder teams every week! This is hard to deal with as a former champy legend!

Main reason I stopped playing tho was the interface... I just didn't get on with it. But alas, I refuse to be left behind and will jump straight into FM 2006 full steam ahead.

Not so, my feathered friend!

I have a couple of colleagues who mentioned WOW and that they play on unofficial servers that are free.

Besides, paying for a game then paying to play it is out of order IMO.

Two RTS (real-time-strategy, ie. like C&C) games I'd recommend:

Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War
Lord of the Rings: Battle for Middle Earth

Both are worth buying, if you're into RTS games, to be honest......Dawn of War doesn't need an amazing computer to play it, but it's a little more forgiving than BfME is.

One word of warning, though, since you didn't actually specify if you were going to buy or "buy" them......BfME can't be played online, or on a LAN, unless it's a genuine version (your base will explode after 5 minutes, killing you, if it's not genuine). Quite amusingly, from memory, someone posted on the official forums asking why his base exploded part-way into a game, and one of the designers pointed out that only pirate-versions did that; the complainant didn't complain on there any more, surprisingly!

I tend to buy the games that I want to play online to be honest. it's just so much less hassle for the sake of twenty quid or whatever than faffing about making sure you're got the right files, and trying to bypass this,a nd skip that etc.

thats bollox it is not possible

not for world of warcraft.

You obvisouly have no experience of a MMORPG 13000 ppl per server and there are 30+ servers in europe whos gonna pay to keep those servers up ?

we have gold membership to keep the server that hosts this site running !

and the fact that warcraft is now one of the best selling games of all time say otherwise

Alright matey, calm down!

They do play on unofficial servers for free. that's the honest truth. They're not using, how do you say.... "official" versions of the game

There are free servers out there but I imagine they aren't anywhere near the propers ones' capacity.

I just feel it's a lot to pay out each month to use the proper servers, especially if you're playing more than one game regularly.
