my dip lights are only working intermittently. full beam is ok & the parking lights but when I dip the beams from full everything goes dark!! disconcerting....
obviously it's not the bulbs, everything appears to be connected well, fuses are intact,

any ideas anyone before I start ripping the control stalk out?

Motor is an xr3i efi.

sounds like either the relay on the back of the stalk or the stalk itself.

failing that it will be the relays in the fuse box

relays in the fuse box, two small white ones (probably burnt by now) right at the back give em a wiggle and the lights'll come on.

bastard to repair, only quick fix is to clean up the pins as best as possible and ensure as good a contact as u can.

 

iT was one of those relays ok, effin haynes manual said they were under the instrument panel so I looked there first. gave them a clean a wiggle And now I SEEETHE LIGHT!!!!
