Default My winter Escos upgrade/buftying project 13th May sml update

This is how it is at the mo

I am having bits, colour coded, chromed, anodised and powdercoated.
Here is some progress on the strip down, all the painted parts are being redone, aswell as some new parts.

some bits off

some more

plenum cover off for painting, breather system removed to be chromed, power steering tank off and binned, map sensor bracket on its way too, throttle body removed to be cleaned up

This will be a slow process as I am in no rush but I will update as and when something is done, firstly a trip to Ford for new clips, screws, bolts and a battery cover

Cheers Paul, it did look ok, but was just beginning to look a little bit tired, I have always wanted to get it cleaner so thought I would jump in the deep end and start taking it all apart
Have just done the back, where I removed the spoilers and got new whale tail seal, modified the bottom spoiler as it wasn't letting water drain properly, rust proofed inside again and gave it all a damn good clean-doesn't look any different but should keep it going for another 10 years

Small update-have fitted new Powersteering tank and cleaned up header tank
will get bits back in 2 weeks from spraying -have seen the plenum and it looks

In the mean time the car is back on 4 wheels for the first time in ages and I have fitted new 300mm's to the rear
here are some pics

back from anodising (smaller bells)

Manky standard rears

Adzbelcher on the spanners (note the bloody big hammer-just in case)

Modified splash guard

pic through wheels

Calipers and pads need tidying now

Not the most interesting of updates but in about 2 weeks I get the engine bits back and will hopefully of replaced all nuts and bolts for grill, lights cam belt cover etc from Ford - will update then

Stay tuned

Just realised I originally posted this in Oct Doesn't time fly!

If you look at the top pic (at the top of the thread) you will see it was nearly new anyway-it just had a tide mark from the coolant so filled it with dry rice and gave it a bit of hey macarena
Sorry if you thought I had stumbled upon the holy grail of header tank cleaning

As the car has been in the garage for 6 months and hasn't moved it needed a clean, so I started to remove lights etc and wax car today

Let battle commence

bonnet vents out and grill off

Side lights and indicators out-these will be replaced

Exhaust polishing tomorow then flush coolant and power steering fluid and refill.

OK the bits are back he has done a top job with painting them too
Anyway today my mate and I got an early start reassembling the engine bay-I will put some pics up of it finished when I have all new clips, bolts and hose clips but here are some 'uncleaned' pics
Here is the plenum freshly painted

The heatshield

Battery cover in situ

Plenum on

Hockey sticks on

Coolant and power steering fluid drained and refilled and fingers crossed we started her up

Glad to report no probs, I now have to change all jubilee clips and P clips, any crappy bolts will be changed for new ones in the bay and at the front of the car-Indicators are in the dishwasher as I type, not sure if that will work but we will see-need new side lights and side indicators new Ford badge for the grill and that will be pretty much it except for a bonnet respray but that will have to wait till next year as this has taken me ages to get round to doing

Brave man having the plenum colour coded

I have thought about it, but plumped for the easy option lol

Out of interest what was the charge for that?

Damo-I am glad I did it but am now petrified of going near it with a spanner
I was lucky enough to have a friend do all the work for the price of a 1/18 AutoArt model -and I really like the way it's turned out-have just fitted all the new s/steel hose clips and rubber lined p clips too and once I get it out into the sun I will post up some pics.
