YEP,centrally operated mot ,cost around 45 quid,NO FREE RETESTS!,
retests are the same mot price, and its another full mot check,
so make sure your car is sound!as it can fail on summit else on a retest too! then itll be another full mot test at 45 quid, and then it can fail on summit else, then itll be another mot test at 45quid,etc,etc

you get my drift,

thanks government,you do us proud!

at the end of the day,

its to get all cars over 3 years old off the road,so less accidents,

hmmm, im sort of with this as the amount of dodgy MOT's is very bad and ive been caught out in the past with buying a car with a dodgy mot .

i try very hard to keep my cars road worthy all of time and get everything fixed as and when it goes wrong so hopefully i wont be affected.

i would like to know what changes are being made though?

mech puts his card in to register your mot, does your car,you pay him,45quid,if you pass ,ok, if you dont, fix your repairs, pay another 45quid,and your car goes through another full mot ,the same as the first,(possible it might fail on summit else!),

thats it really,if your unlucky, you could do this a few times

if hes caught, having a good look, hell lose his mot rites, they have to register the mot with their card, leave it in the computer, till the mots finished,if an inspecter sees the examiner not mot ing the car hes logged on for, then hes in trouble!

FRAUD!.

Might be a good idea to start getting a cheap pre-MOT check done then so you can fix everything before the real thing.....kinda like the old system of paying for an MOT & getting a free re-test.

they've been doing tests the new way since May where i live!!
I still only pay £28 though
dont think it's to get cars over 3 years old off the road though, more like to stop fraud!! and stop people driving around with no mot which as we all know sort of makes your insurance invalid in the event of a claim..

ya! tis true,
but,pre mot checks at your garage will prob cost the same, labour and all

the big pic IS to get motors older than 3 years off the road, trust me!

in the narrow mindedness of the government offices ,a 4 year old car is and OLD unsafe car in this country, the idea for ALL pattern parts to be banned in the u.k.and europe, has been put on hold for now,so this is the progression of the motoring establishment, from buyers /sellers to users and services PERIOD!

LESS chance of a "safe" car being the cause of an accident,=less insurance payouts+less police work or accident investigation,it will still happen ,but unroadworthy cars being the minor factor and more driver error.

WHICH in turn = more bans for poor driving=less cars on the road = more enviromentally freindly country=world bonus status ,and a larger slice of the polution pie that can be used up in industrie(fat cat companys that buy up pollution qouters)

sorry to get pollitical, but its the BIG picture thats addressed here!

Like the black boxes for the pay as you drive. They allready have that, it's called fuel duty. The boxes are there for Big Brother reasons and those alone. I voted Conservative so I hope all the Labour voters are happy with themselves

if you do get a rise ,itll be coz you changed your job!

besides , all vat and taxes have been steadily increasing over the pay scale/salary increments, its starting to effect middle management areas now,so if it continues "i predict a riot !" might well be the outcome.did you know ,the last civil unrest in this country was (publically known one that is)when the miners strike was on,maggie and the gov headers scurried up her to fife ness, and run the country from a nuclear bunker by crail, true,
ive been in it,its a mile under ground and is now open to the public, for a small charge of course!

wonder were the new one is? shhhhhhh!
