If a policeman is checking for speeding with a handheld gun, is the only way they can do you for speeding is if they pull you over there and then?

They don't send out letters from the guns do they?

No they can send a letter out providing its within 14 days.

Just that they were pulling other people over, so I thought perhaps they had to pull you over to prosecute you.

Ask them to have the gun checked.

you never know it may not be calibrated properly.

If they were pulling people over its probably a gun where you need to do so, so you are probably fine.

A colleague of mine got done by a handheld one that took pictures as evidence though (not to prove speed, the gun does that, but to provide proof of what car it was)
