Default Thanks to R&B Motorsport and Pro-Alloy

Big thanks to Mike (again!) and Pro-Alloy for coming up trumps on my new IC. Exactly to spec, and super fast delivery which meant I got my motor back super quick, and am now running it in .

So big up both of them - excellent customer care & service. Mike has picked his suppliers very carefully me-thinks , as he and they always come up trumps

Big thanks to Harvey & Tim @SCS for sorting the car out so promptly, and that included some last minute faffing around they had to do (and could have done without!), due to a couple of things which were totally out of their control, but they sorted 'em for me anyway - cheers guys .

Can't believe how well the car goes and runs on low, running in boost It's easily as well behaved round town, as my old greens conversion was. Wasn't looking forward to running in tbh, but this will be more pleasant than I thought it'd be

QUACK!!! The duck has come home!!

How long was your car away for Bill?

Harvey has banged out some nice engines for people on here lately and it's got me thinking..................

Maybe I won't move

Paul, car was away for quite a while away in total, 99% of that time taken up by me deciding exactly what I wanted, and to sort out transmission parts before giving final go ahead.

I had a touch of 4x4 syndrome : no point having the power if tranny couldn't cope , and if the transmission was sorted, then may as well run a bit more power - only wanted to do this once and Harvey was very patient and understanding, as always .

Didn't really finalise the spec' until approx. a week prior to Harvey going on holiday, although some work was obviously possible prior to this. Engine was dyno'd & mapped end of the week Harvey got back from hol's, and got the car back a week after that .

Bernie & Co. @ CTS sorted out the gearbox the week Harvey was on holiday, and had a very quick turnaround on the polishing & 'peening which they outsource to a specialist (so turnaround time can vary due to their workload).

So it all 'happened' in a very reasonable time frame, once I'd stopped running the permutations I think I also got lucky with some of the variables, and everything stacked up nicely, which was .

Just got back in from putting some more miles on it, still smiling now and only running 10psi I'm sure it'll keep me happy in this spec' for a long, long time to come.......

I've finally managed to create my perfect road car, the seeds being sown many years back at a certain Motor Show displaying a rather tasty tiger striped motor, and a subsequent outing in Harvey's own Escort all them years ago. Couldn't do what I wanted to with my first EsCos, but with my second one I finally got there - (cue music..... )

"......with a little help from my friends."

I really do appreciate all the help I've had from people I consider friends, some old, and some new

Sorry to waffle on, but the board 'needs some balance, it does' - or so a little frog like creature told me

"secret" cooler mods .... I honestly dont understand all this "secret" bollox Ok maybe on engine internals/cams/turbo etc, but if Pro Alloy have made a RS500 cooler which is "better" than thier off the shelf item, why dont they just make the "better" item for general sale instead... Or have you bought the design rights too??

I knew someone would bite

I wanted a black IC, not a gay chrome looking thing, so they kindly sorted that out for me, along with some WI jet fittings. Other than that it's what everyone else gets - didn't want a MikeR special cooler

Is everyone happy now

Nice one Bill, I pretty know what I want spec and performance wise. I've just got to write it all out and start talking to a few people.

Thanks

Paul.

Bill how did they get it black?

I want a black one for the FRS but the only thing i could think of was painting it and i was told that would reduce the effiency?

Cheers

Paul

No worries Paul, it does help when you know what you want, but it's easy to get carried away too.

Other Paul - don't know is the honest answer, lol (can find out if you want). Only running low boost at the moment, but charge air temps are very low. It's so much bigger than the EsCos chargecooler, I shouldn't think I'll have any issues, but had the WI fittings added just in case they should ever be needed - easier to have them done now than have to remove it all in the future.

Cheers Dave.

I had 'sort of' gotten used to trundling around in the diseasel weasel - not worrying where it's parked etc., but now I've got the EsCos back I'm happier than a pig in the proverbial.

Is yours all finished now? I lose track of all the rebuild threads.

Regards

Bill
