Default Halogen GU10 Lighting Question........

Following on from my Bathroom lighting saga a couple of weeks ago.

I fitted 6 IP64 rated GU10 Mains Voltage lights. I replaced the 50w Bulbs that they came with for 35w ones to save cost a little. I figured that 200 watts of light ought to be enough.

Anyway, when we fired them up, my immediate thought was that they were nowhere near bright enough. They had a very distinct Yellow tint to them.

We have a freshly plastered Ceiling etc, so we were going to wait until it was all painted etc before we made a judgement about whether or not they are bright enough.

Anyway, that was a while ago. Tonight Ms B has decided to paint the ceiling and inadvertantly knocked one of the lights. Not hard, just a tap. We immediately noticed that the light she had knocked was considerably brighter than all the others. So, I got a plastic bottle and tapped the other 5 in turn and one-by-one they all became as bright as the other one. This now means that they look bright enough!!

WTF is that all about??
