FAO of everyone who has been to Thailand
I am going to Krabi for 14 days in December
, I will have £600.00 spending money for me and the missus, is this likely to be enough,we are bed and breakfast so will need at least one nice meal a day and the odd trip maybe
who's been and what did you spend (without the lady boy costs please
)

, I heard it was cheap, should really take more by the sounds of it
nowhere near enough money.
steer clear of places like rai leh (riley) beach it is now a world class resort, used to piss cheap years ago but top dollar now,
on that budget you would have to stay somewhere cheaper like trang, get about on peds or songthaews, but that is best anyway as you can go different beaches each day, or take some trips inland
best to learn some basic thai before you go as you will get ripped off left right and centre to begin with, but you will still have an awesome time

That food market sounds good too
How much do you think I will need for 14 days, as above hotel and brekkie are already paid for?
that money should do you provided the mrs don't want to be taken to posh restaurants every night.
if mrs want somewhere to go shopping take a bus down to hat yai
as westy says

From: fee, fife, foe, fumb,i smell the blood of an englishman ,in scotland!
sawadee ka,and sawadee krap! for girl and man,
the man gets krap!,thats a hello in thai! coop kon krap is thank you to a man and ka to a woman. ni ni noi noi! means little chilli ,small amount.
ive been to thailand in 99-2000,and even BURMA!
its a superb place,im going back too when wee-one can manage the 12hr flight,
went to (wait for it),bangkok, chaing mai ,chaing rai, phuket, golden triangle, the kwai river, the jeath railway, krabi 12 nights, spent a long time there, but ive been other places since so my thai is lost for now,
seen the karen tribe, been with the coke headed elephant trainers,tuk-tuks,loads of cheap internal flights on brand new planes, seen the muang thai boxers fight, the dancers oh its fuckin excellent!,,you will seriously enjoy it,the people are freindly, but have a funny way,(they wont loose face!),
the golden temple in bangkok is a must, get a personal guide, cost as much,as an organised tour ,but far far better, use their longtail boats(noisey bus engined long skinny boats),see the smog in the city,
stayed in krabi resort, for twelve nights,in bungallows, hot in the south ,like the food, its bitter in the north, sweet in bangkok, and spicey in the south,
take whiskey, they love scotch, and will pay lots for good stuff, even a small half litre, try their mekong whiskey(with rotting snake in it),made from mekong river water.
money is baht, and we spent about 15 hundred quid for the first three weeks, but that was honeymoon time, and lots done and spent,we arranged our internal flights in britain, just remember to ring to confirm your time in thailand before leaving the hotel,(the desk clerk will do it free),we flew to phuket, and taxied 4hrs
to krabi,(listening to AQUA
non stop in the taxi)fookin barbie girl, makes us smile now tho!that was before the flights went there from bangkok int.if you stay in bangkok for a few nights, you get a limo to your hotel, pay at the desk and (about 500baht)and itll take you there,(we stayed in THE BELL AIR PRINCESS,of suhkumvit road,"a main road in bangkok,
take as much as you can, cause its a long way to go and not be able to do somethingyou would love to.(we went microliteing too"chaing mai")videoed it,the skwealy music with the off beat is everywhere(like a thai boxing fight)
you will love it!,take the precausions needed, jabs pills etc, plenty of mozzy repelent,(one bite can give you malaria, which is NOT curable),we had larium,(methlaquin) anti malaria pills, they make you photogenic, and the sun hurt me bad!,"side affect of the tabs,,and the sea around (andaman sea)has flying fish, and basking, whale and other types of shark, the water has boiling bits in it too, like a kettle no lie.but the scenery is one of the best in the world.
last tip,REMEMBER to save money for your homeward journey ,as when you go to your departure gate, you HAVE to pay your tax,and its not cheap, ours was 600baht each the first year, and 750 the second,
take your credit card for emergencies and get your travel insurance before you go!,hospitals are not free.or docs.the food is great! no shits the times ive been, dont drink their water, even bottled for teeth cleaning,i know of someone who got CHOLERA/TYPHOID
happy hols. hope this helps, any questions pm me
