Default When for a spin in Cam's Nissan Skyline R34 GTR(pics)

Hi Peeps

fair play Just to let you know , I bought a few things of Cam which he deliverd to me in his GTR R34

all i can say it's fooking awesome machine he took me out for a spin on the dual carrigeway not giving it too much because he is still running the engine in

Cam then said ,"do you want a drive of it" ," i said no " i was affraid incase anything happend to it , he said ,"don't worry your insured"
i said ok then

anyway i drove the car fooking everything is just touch i don't mean press i mean touch as for the clutch it has a triple plate and you wouldn't know that there's one in there

the brakes just touch and stop acel pedal touch it and the revs shoot up ...i can belive how the car is so driverable on the rd, i can now see why peeps buy these car i'll give it to the japs they can build a car no dowts

heres a few pics of Cams machine

Cam thanks for the spin mate i realy do appricate it , i can't belive how smooth they are to drive awesome even with all the mad bits on it

Fair play to Rod Bell for building a good engine/car

cheers Marco

...ok ok...its a fooking stunning car but why you still on a lowly Ford board? Was gonna buy one but settled for the 348 instead.

...the Escos is far better...but then you should expect that on a FORD board?

Marco.. It’s all about what you are looking for in a road/track car, yes the skyline is more refined and yes it's quieter but that’s not what floats my boat! The escort stays!

Phil... Shut it!

p.s. Cam bring it over lets have a go!

Thanks for taking the pix Marco as everytime I have been home since I picked it up its been dark! Ł640 in Optimax since last tuesday evening takes some using.
Its my daily driver so I wanted nice road manners, low down torque and a light clutch (be it a bit keen in operation).
My aims regards performance were this -
Genuine 200+ mph performance
0-300kph in under 18 seconds
Once the OSG gearbox is fitted and I have learned how to launch it properly I am hoping to run a 10 second qtr. I am not bothered if its a 10.9999995 one but a 10.
That was the brief Rod Bell had.
The head is vitually same spec as Keith Cowies and I see that Keith is going for a 3.0L OSG bottom end but with the monster turbos

I still have my 3dr trackcar and love the Ford scene.

After I sold EsCos but before I bought the Skyline the other cars I considered were TVR Cerbera 4.5 (fast but unreliable and built by fraggles), Ferrari 550 (awesome car might still get one for Sunday driving as GTR does have hooligan/drug dealer image ) or 360 (I'm a fat bastard so would look like a monkey on a mangle getting in and out of it lol) or a V10 M5 (Its a BMW )

Each to their own Phil. You are building a car with awesome spec and I hope you dont lose interest and get to enjoy the fruits of your labours.
For what I what from a car I cant think of anything I'd rather have honestly.

I called at the works on the off chance you were there enroute to Marcos but gates were locked.
I'll be down soon as back brakes need sorting.
Its far easier to have a go in the car than explain its road manners thats why I cajoled Marco to have a drive...he took some convincing (I think its a Jap thing ). It drives just like std car but with more in every dept. I also have a 32 and its nowhere near as nice mannered but cause its a brute it floats my boat in a different way.

This is what surprised me with the GTR's. Recently borrowed one for a couple of weeks and to feel how refined the power is, is unbelievable. What would make me lean towards buying one is the lack of day to day maintenance compared to a cossie and availability of parts, especially here.

Awesome machines.

Nice car cam and great spec.

Its at Rod Bells getting put together. 1994 R32 VSpec II/ stripped and caged/ 2.7 big cams/ T88 turbo est 750bhp/ nasty seq dogbox. Its more of a drag car no use as a trackcar so big single is being replaced by twins and softer cams are going in so it will be a punchy smooth 450-550hp and not no power till 5 grand then a 400hp jump in 500 revs that sends car sideways in any gear!
ETA is to be ready for next Easter ready for Ring mission.

32 doesnt have the development that a 34 has tbh. I have both and 34 is so much nicer on all counts.
I have driven plenty of 33s (inc a 750hp 2.8) and they are not as nice either imo.
Comparing a 32/33 with a 34 is like comparing a Saff and an EsCos. Similar but the later model is better engineered and nicer.

refined yes....quieter err no the system thats on it is a trifle lacking in the silencer dept and diverter valve wiring isn't rigged up yet..
I dont really see a comparison between my GTR and your car as your car is a no holds barred top of the line track/road car thats primary mission is to be the ultimate expression of what an EsCos can achieve in both terms of performance and track handling. The Norris Evo is something I would say is worthy of comparison with your car.
My car is a road/occasional trackday car thats fully trimmed/stereoed thats only mission is to achieve performance I notionally wanted and to be as forgiving and user friendly as possible.
Any dummy could have a GTR like mine as 98% of it is off the shelf parts whereas your EsCos is genuinely unique with cutting edge mods/one off bits plus its your own work not chequebook engineering like mine!

Cam
PS, Do I get a discount on the back brakes for bigging up your Cortina Coupe???
