the sound of my exhaust when i come on full load and full boost in any gear.


Having never heard my own exhaust, i didnt know what they were on about

however, tonight, while out on a test drive with the passanger window down listening for adverse engine noises, i loaded the engine up in 2nd with a big wall next to the car - the sound of the exhaust is awesome - never heard anything quite as ripping and roaring on a cossie before

it litrally sounds like a jet fighter takin off

 

What exhaust system you got on it?

 

its a scoripion with the center box removed - so 3" all the way

 

Ahhhh - yes deffo the best sounding system for a cos imo but i bet its even better with the center box removed

i can only akain the sound to someone with mega strength picking up a pice of tarmac and tearing it like a sheet of paper

it's a mongoose and prolly sounds summat similar to a nova with a cherry bomb

 

Isn't it the case that when it sounds like this ripping noise you are talking about its beacuse its restrictive?

Every cossie I have heard with the scorpion system sounded like a jet fighter.

Have you checked that the boxes go through at 3 inches and are not reduced diameter?

i have a scorpion back box in the garage somewhere, 4" tailpipe, 2" inner bore lol

 

Graceland.. Saw and heard your car at the ring ( I watched a bit at Adenau bridge on the sunday ) and yes, a couple of us commented on how mint it sounded!!

My Dad got really pissed off with refitting his back box because it kept blowing it off under hard acceleration due to the back pressure. Fitted a mongoose and noticed an instant improvement in response.

Sounds just Dave's Esc Cos before he had a arguement with the tyres at Castle Coombe

 

Had a 3in single box in mine, was no boxes really as the ALS blew/burnt all the baffle out the fucker, could see it bouncing along the road in flames at night...

 

Was it done custom Paul? I really like the sound of that...... wouldn't be so good with a bit of random pipe put in where the centre box used to be tho

 

Its just a piece of straight 3in pipe, cost me 30quid to be done, so can be a random piece really, well stainless pipe hopefully.

It has a hanger on that bit, but not hard to re-attatch that

When I get my project underway in a month or so I may well go down this route as it sounds like a very good idea

Just out of interest, is it easier to drop a YB into a Saff with the exhaust manifold already on or would you put that on after it's in?

 

Think thats the same as Dom runs and it does sound the bollocks when on boost!!

 

Would you rather have a restrictive exhaust that sounds 'good', or more power?

i got told that mine was a similar sound to yours when i did the Bedford trackday.

People were amazed that i had not been black flagged and then a bit later on ...black flagged!

Had to take my time were the microphones were then.

 

i look forward to some black flags then

you will struggle to put a manifold on with the engine in the car. are you sure you mean manifold (up to and including the turbo), or the downpipe? attach manifold (at least first half if 2wd) to engine while out of car, and attach downpipe when engine is in car (adjusting to clear body and arb)
