ok first of all im not trying to clock my car. its done 106k with all MOT's to prove etc.
the previous owner had white dials in it which i think are horrid!
i bought some new clocks (original ones) but they only read 70k. can anybody tell me how to alter the mileage so i can carry on from 106k.
i don't suppose ford would be able to sort me out would they...?
thanks,
dave

Dave,
It's actually quite easy to alter the mileage. You'll have to open up the clocks u got and take out the speedo(middle clock). Now it's just a matter of turning the numbers until u get the desired on at the front i.e.where u'll be reading it while driving. Then u just put back in the clock and put everything back togather again.
Some people think this damages the clocks and the numbers don't line up correctly aftrewards but I've done it successfully on 2 RS's(after engine changes to reflect the actual mileage).
Best of luck
Jimmy

i have the clocks in my bedroom at the moment.
i have taken the plastic face off the front.
is it a case of taking the sealing stickers off and completely dismantling it in order to remove the speedo section....
thanks for your help

Dave,
The plastic face stays on the front,to dismantle u need to open the 6/8(?) screws at the back(white plastic section)and pull the plastic away from the clocks little extruding ends(3 per clock I think). The whole thing should split in 2 then thus allowing u to take out the speedo and get to work with it...
