Calling all the ZVH Gods..
Sup guys, I've been tuning this CVH motor over here in the states for a good while now.. and a few of you may remember my past thread comparing the lean-burn and hemi cyl heads here stateside..

I just want to get a sense of which zetec blocks you guys are rocking over there with your 1.6cvh heads? 1.6, 1.8 or the 2.0 block?
If you are using the 2.0 zetec block, this has the same block dimensions (bore, stroke, etc) as the 2.0 SPI CVH motor that we have over here in the states.
From that point, if you do use the 2.0l zetec block, what have you found to be the best valvetrain setup for high horsepower and more upper powerband? This is the route I wish to take, since we have the mazda pos boxes over here and they can't handle the torque. Also might as well make a mean revving, stroked motor while I'm at it (I don't believe the strokyness of the zetec and spi blocks will effect much)
I would like to know which cam profile has the best high-boost potential. Piper 285t2? CVH 34, 35, 36?
What would make this great is if you guys had a whicked cam profile on hand that I could use in building a camshaft over here. I'll also be using stainless steel valve springs and titanium retainers from a ford 2.3l i4 (dirrect swap).
I already have a 2.0L zetec block from a Ford Escort ZX2 forged up with forged JE pistons and Eagle Hsection conrods w/ arp bolts.. and the 2.0spi cvh head hemisphericaled out.. pics soon.
I just need some info on how the zetec blocks are handled over there, and if they are still revable with your 1.6l cvh heads.

2ltr zetec bottom end does (with some small mods) fit straight on, theres good power & i do recommend it, though i'm now building a 16V turbo'd zetec engine to replace it! as said ian howell is the man, & if you follow the link you may find him

Well, on our zetec's here in the states we have this thing called VCT.. variable cam timing.. basically what it does is it dumps exhaust back into the cc.. this mechanism is localized in the cyl head and is electronically controlled.. and is for emissions bs
I know there are some zetec heads here that are non-vct... but I really crave some cvh power ya know
keep it escort motor, although the escort zx2's were zetec equipped.. but allas..
Yeah I was checking out what all I need, and I think I need to either buy an ebay ZVH conversion water pump bracket to use my cvh water pump or fab up a bracket (flange)

Well, I figure I have the money to spend, and while I'm turboing an escort.. there is a lot to prove here in the states on what a ford powered escort can do.. a lot of the escort gt guys here are mazda bp powered.. that's the 1.8l DOHC mazda motor.. basically they are mazda protege's.. mazda bg chassis.. well that is the chassis my car is on.. but the cvh is mounted in with a custom (well, stock here, but you get my point) mount that was created by us ford for the protege/323 bg chassis.. my car weighs in at 2100lbs for a sedan
.. i could have a 2dr hatchback escort.. but i like the sedan look.. lowered, escort rs turbo look going on a lil bit..
I know a guy that has 550+whp on a mazda bpt setup in his escort gt about a half day drive away
time to show them what the cvh can do.. or hybrid cvh.. the only way I could get forged internals for the cvh, was go about using the zetec block, which was built from the cvh block, instead, since those have been mass produced already.. and the zetec block being a beefier setup than the cvh block doesnt hurt either
the only worry i have is not getting the proper breathe rate (valvetrain!!) in this first zvh setup here in the states

Just to clear things a bit. The engine most often referred to as "zetec" in europe is the early zetec-E introduced in the mondeo. I don't know if this engine ever existed in the US. The later focus-zetec (Zetec-R ?) that is common in US is a slightly different engine and many parts will not be directly interchangeable.

So far it seems exactly the same as what we in Blighty know as the zetec with stronger pistons,different oil pump,sump,and upper engine mounting.2 sites you should check out are, Jim Hearns site at www.quantums.info/zvh.htm and as far as tuning/maintenance/engineering are concerned check out www.pumaracing.co.uk cos Dave is THE HEAD MAN again don't tell these other guy's cos they'll all end up with an RS as fast as mine/no thats not true cos most of them won't take any notice of engineering/the laws of Physics. You can fit later spec Focus Zetec rods to the earlier Zetec-E 2.0 crank. The rods are longer, but you can get lo-comp later Zetec pistons - with this setup you'll have an even lower comp ZVH (7cc more chamber over the Zetec head).
The good thing is, that the later spec stuff is off the shelf from Esslinger, Focus central etc. so good value for money. I used rods from Eagle, and had a custom set of pistons from Arias machined to fit - 7.8:1 CR. I'm also using a Puma Race head.
You may be able to find an early CGI Zetec-E block, which you could use for huge power output.

Just read you got the forged kit already - so you're halfway there.
Handled? Well we block of 4 oil returns, drill a hole for the new breather system, block the front breather as it sits behind the turbo manifold, and finally the sump is drilled and fitted with a pipe for the oil return from the turbo. A bit of welding on the engine mount and fitting a RST flywheel to the Zetec crank, and it's ready to be fitted in. Inlet manifolds and injection is the final part - here there are many options.
