Default Got my GTR back

After it being off the road since the last week in May my Skyline is finally back with me to be run in.
I'm over the moon with the quality of the work Rod Bell and the team at RB Motorsport have done.
The 1st time I attempted to set off I stalled it...what a plonker . Got to get clutch bedded in as its a bitch at moment
Got the first 200 miles chocked up tonight and even running a paltry max 5krpm and 6psi boost the motor has bucketloads of torque.
Its been so long since I have driven the car that I am making all the classic mistakes like washing windows when I want to indicate etc.
Hopefully I'll have the 2000 mile running in completed in a week to ten days and can then get the full 9krpm/30psi.
Its so great to have it back. I am like a dog with more dicks than legs!
Still got the suspension and rear brakes to sort and the new management and then it will be winter rebuild time

Yeah its a killer esp as there was a Bentley GT on M61 and it was quiet but with just 47 miles since the motor was built and the low revs/boost I had to let him go

Its awful having all the Saxo boys sitting behind you goading for you to nail it
I had planned on a trip to John O'Groats and back a couple of times but have been advised to do 200 miles a day max with plenty of full thermal shutdowns

Hi cam

one thing i'll say about Rod he is a genuine bloke and wouldn't sell you anything that you wouldn't need and he knows his stuff

if you see him again tell him that my turbo is still running strong from the day he got it rebuilt for me 4yrs ago

Very impressed with Rod and the whole team there. He could have sold me no end of bling parts/breathers etc but went over everything and really took his time explaining about removing squish etc and what the benefits (on an rb26/30) were.
I reminded him about your turbo and he said they don't make them like that nowadays!

30psi @ 9krpm sounds fucking serious.

Going to be pushing some interesting numbers by the sounds of it!

TBH The rev limit will be at 8500rpm but bottom end is good for 9000rpm.

Whats limiting it to 8500 then, just interests of reliability or do you have an issue that the oil pump will cavitate or something like that?

Im stuck to about 8250 on mine unless i go dry sump, even thouh rods and crank etc can take 9K

Camshafts are very high lift and also for long term reliability. Rod fitted one of the latest Tomei pumps same as Mr Cowies. The way it comes on boost is a revelation as even though its running on 6psi its making that at 1800rpm

High enough lift for valve bounce to be an issue you mean?

boost under 2K sounds awesome if it can then carry on all the way up to 9K, that really does sound fucking mental!

Cant wait to see how you get on with it, make sure you keep us all posted

I think its about strain on valvegear but will ask.
Rod has done 2 similar conversion to mine and rates it as best road conversion as the boost comes from nothing.
My car running stg1 chip/decat/system/filters/step1 hks cams+pulleys was probably 420hp and on short slip ...private of course... it would pull 90-100mph indicated but when I was taken in demo car it indicated 175mph on same stretch.
That was the clincher (both bum cheeks and what spec I wanted) for me lol.

Hi Cam, nice one mate.

Sounds good! Heard nothing but good things about RB.

What management are you considering? Or is that a daft question considering what Keith's car runs.

Cheers - Sunny.

I have Keiths old ( well 180 miles use) 1000cc injs now he has gone bigger, I am having an Autronic setup just like Keiths and after looking at his car and in particular his soon to be upgraded turbos I might have to buy them for a rainy day.
RB and MAD a match made in GTR heaven

Only ones taken when wheels were fitted. I have loads on my phone but one of my cats enjoys chewing USB cables so another trip to CarPhone Wharehouse required

I am still a flawed sorry Ford man as I have the 3dr. Funnily enough I considered asking admin to change my screen name on the other forum.

well done Cam. Hopefully worth the wait. Certainly sounds awesome from the spec. Looking forward to some more pics when you get the camera out.

Know what you mean about the cats, found one of mine running round the house with a cycling shoe in tow as he was pulling the valcro strap, trying to tear it off.
