my rad fan does not cut in causing the car to over heat. i hve checked the fuses and they are ok is there anything else i can check before replacing the fan. if i have to replace the fan what would be the best replacement.i am limited to standard size due to my ic covering the rest of the rad. any help/suggestion appreciated (series 2 )

Hi mate, i'd be checking the fan switch is ok it'self. Is it a standard S2 fan? check the plug connection on the fan itself... and also check the blue connector that goes to the thermostat housing, you can bridge this connection and the fan will kick in automatically with the ignition on. Also check the temp sender (little rubber boot that pushes onto the head, and is also conected in with the blue plug mentioned above) make sure this is ok, but this just gives you your actual temp reading which i assume is ok?

Almost certainly the plug/switch on the side of the thermostat which
get very coroded and also very HOT. New switch is about £15 from
Ford and plug is common to most fords and your local breaker will
probably give it to you for nothing. John
