Default My plans for my ERST - updated 19/1/05 with pics

Just an update for everyone on whats happening with my RST and the new bits I've got for it that WILL be fitted by Trax lol

This is at Trax last year (nice pic by Rolls ) just after I burnt my clutch out getting in

and this is it outside my parents house

Now the plans for the next couple of weeks, just had my GRS through

my Kenlowe fan

My quad headlamps

and my 2WD Cos brakes front and back

Also getting it resprayed on the 14th of July, with a carbon skinned bonnet (being done in the same style as Dan's red one if anyone saw it at Central Day)

and a Series 1 bodykit and smoothed bumpers (being done by the bodyshop)

and this is pretty much all the rust that I have on the roof, got the normal bits around the front panel and will probably find a load behind the sideskirts and arches but those pics will follow....

I'm taking the kit off next week, maybe fitting the GRS if I can get hold of another fan by then.

I'll give my sprayer a camera so he can take some pics of it being sprayed so will be updated as and when I get pics

Any comments appreciated (even bad ones Dave)

All logos are going off the boot mate, getting a small Focus RS badge for it, the shiny bit is a stainless hub cover, that will be going on ebay along with the standard fan as its not needed anymore, don't worry not offended, I know some of things I've got planned aren't to everyones taste

Right well heres an update for you all, managed to get out of work early today so decided to make a start on getting the kit off.

Started with the rear and the arch came off really easy which wasn't good...

then to the sideskirts which were absolutely perfect!

gave the parts thats had been sitting under the kit for forever a nice T-cut to get rid of all the shit that was stuck to them and it didn't come out too bad.

I'm doing the other side 2moro, I know I won't have any nasty surprises on the rear arch on that side as it had a new rear quarter panel about 2 years ago, but I'll put some pics up of that side and let you all have a look

Well I finally managed to get the bonnet on today and lined it all up nicely, and get some more of the kit off.

The bonnet looks something like this...

(don't worry the vents aren't staying white, I've got a spare set that I've got to get sprayed black)

and as predicted not a sight of rust on the rear arch!

What I did find however is this under the sill

Looks like some complete moron has jacked it up on the sill, probably taking the jacking point cover off and thinking thats where it should be jacked up

The rest of the sill is fine though

Its just strated raining so I've postponed it for a bit, I will be going back out in a sec to take the rear bumper off so if I get some pics I'll upload them as well

all in all I don't think she's in too bad a state for a 17 year old RS

Everyone seems to love the bike! lol think I made a good choice there

Well I've just about managed to pull myself out of bed after last nights trip to Slinkys, so the aim is to get the car completely stripped by end of play today, so that means spoiler, door locks, wing mirrors, rear wiper motor and the last arch to get off.

Should be finsihed and ready for Monday

Well I've managed a bit of what I said I would do

The rear bumper removed

Close up of the rear panel

and what seemed like a little bubble until I started digging (an old repair by the look of the filler thats come back)

managaged to get the front arch off with a little convincing

and the bootlid minus the spoiler and wiper arm

and now may I introduce my 1.4 Bonus

I'm generally happy with the condition of her, few bits of rot here and there but thats to be expected for the age.

I'm leaving the front bumper on at the mo for my sprayer to take it off, all thats left now is the mirrors and door locks which should be easy enough 2moro!

I'll give the sprayer a disposable camera so he can get some shots of how it looks as he's doing it and hopefully in a week I should have some more updates for you all

So for now, thats all folks

Thanks for the comments guys

fomoco90 - I've had it for about 2 years now, doing various bits to the engine and just saving up to get the respray done, left it a bit late though lol! I'm actually really pleased at how it looks under the kit, I was expecting it to be as bad as my XR2 was when I had that sprayed a few years back...

Rolls - you'll get to see it soon mate, she'll no doubt be next to yours again on the stand

I've just had a drive down past the sprayers, and its outside for a minute cos they're spraying another car, it looks so sad!! Its got no windows, no bumpers, bits of it are in primer...

Even my missus commented on how sad it looked and she hates the car!

Hopefully gonna shoot down there on Monday so I can get some teaser photos...will let you know then

Well I've just been down there and had a look, he hasn't got very far due to personal reasons but its now back on track for Ford Fair...(I hope)

If anything I might end up with the carbon bonnet not sprayed as he said it will take a bit to do it.

She will be finished for Trax!!

Heres a look at my rear arch repair, sorry vouldn't get anymore on this shit camera as it wasn't liking the glare

He's also rolled it and glassed the inside to stop corrosion and rain getting in there...

I'll try and get another update in a couple of days...

Its originally a fibre glass bonnet with a carbon fibre skin over the top, so you can see the weave of the carbon...

I wish I had mate, I've had loads of people ask me about it!!

The only thing you might be able to do is put an FAO up on the RSOC board for STORM and he might be able to let you know where he got it from...

Also apaologies for the lack of updates, unfortunately its not going to be ready for Ford Fair due to my sprayers having personal probs, but shit happens, you can never plan for anything.
