Default FAO Escort cosworth owners......

Since you have had your car....

How long have you had you car for and what problems have you had ???
(EXCLUDING ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION RELATED ISSUES)

Had my car for 6 years now.

Mine has had (not in any particular order)....

2 front wheel bearings.
2 new fuel cap lock barrels.
1 drivers side central locking actuator module.
1 handbrake cable.
1 new light/indicator/wiper switch stalk assembly.
2 speedo cables.
6 sets of wiper blades.
1 front fog light (not bulb) as the glass just fell out one day.
1 fuse/relay box (although I totally reconditioned my original one and sold it off)
1 new CAT 1 imobiliser (vecta key unit fooked up)
3 radiator cooling fan switches.
2 new front door speakers (replaced with original ford items) - will need 2 more soon

But I have NEVER needed to replace any bulbs at all

I have kept EVERY reciept I have ever had for the car and the pile is nearly 2 inches thick.
although this does include engine bits too.

Tempted to add up all the costs ... One day

Replaced the indicators and cps, but every thing else has been replaced for the purposes of uprating.

However, it needs

The boot release to be fixed and associated wiring as the rear wiper goes on a go-slow
new speakers
clutch ratchet replacing

Shouldn't complain really in two years

Boost hose(standard one with a little too much boost i think,
2frt wheel bearings,
I know i need an invertor for the dash lights,
1 tail light bulb,
2 wiper blades on the front
1 rear wiper blade
Front bushes (although not polybushed as a result)
new front speakers (but i'm an audio engineer so built some new ones free)
1 side of heated front screen doesn't work.

All in 3 years of ownership.

simon most cossies seem to wear out the petrol cap lock for some reason, never seems to seize up though

oil and i belive the most popular bulb to replace on the cossie is the oil light or the bulb in ya torch for finding problems when they breal down again

ya forgot the new bonnet hinges as they seem to have more use than the tyres

at some of your lists, I have been lucky and in 4 years have had engine multi plugs taken out 1 set of new tyres, everything else has been upgraded not because it broke but because I wanted to, saying that it's had 2 map sensors since the 330 conversion

Phil, I still have it.

The guy who was buying it gave me a deposit but couldnt get a bank loan for the rest in the end.

Its MOT time so cant sell it without one and needs a few things sorted.

BUT.... Deep down just love it too much and will probally keep it now and through even more money at it.

Having said all that, it would seem now these are becoming a bit too
common now and every clown and his dog has one - maybe

i heard you the 1st time lol.

well the 1.6 is still a 1.6 at the mo.

got all the running gear now, just need pistons and rods back then can have the engine built and nail all the running gear on!

then off to primary designs for a manifold and zorst, then run it in, then whack the boost up and piss all over yours
