Standard one owner cars are a good buy if they have been looked after properly, plus if its been standard all its life it hasn't been run on silly amounts of boost, & another fact most people seem to overlook is the resale value, when you come to sell it it will still only be a 2 owner car.

don't buy one that says cosWOTH , get a genuine cosworth

if you can get somebody to go with you who owns one and knows them quite well, that way you can spot potential problems much easier

i agree get someone who knows what they are doing to take a look .imo tho it depends on what you want from the car if you are thinking of tuning it it works out a hell of a lot cheaper to buy a car with some of the mods already done like exhaust, filter, wheels and suspension .

this post got me thinking as i'll be in the same boat soon ...

anyone know what is actually checked when you get a full AA car inspection? and cost? maybe its worth a try if you dont have loads of mates that own these sorts of cars - like me!

don't think AA inspectors are privvy to the problems a specialist car like a cosworth can have

if you offer say Ł40 for someone on here to come and look with you i think you'll get a lot better advice than an AA inspection, and i'm sure there will be plenty of takers, just post with the title ' anyone in the ....... area want Ł40 for a couple of hours of there time '

cosworth's are expensive if they go wrong ...... i went from a high'ish powered sII 3 years ago .. to a 4wd sapphy and boy did it feel slow in comparison
but its a nice feeling to be able to just have power in all road conditions ...
but if you want a quick increase on a standard car go for a stage one conversion .. really makes it more drivable....
