I smell a wind up? Surely

Although it might work, similar capicity engine, maybe with the right boost to match the fuel? But still, it unlikely it would be perfect, so on a full load flat out thrash it would probably melt ..............

I'd get it on the rollers rapidly!

im sure that ya will find ya will save money on fuel aswell as pass a co test with the correct setting for the car

but im sure it does work in priciple

i got a mate whos got a xr2i engine with a drilled block for the oil return and thats running 17psi,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, infact tbh its the longest lasting engine we have seen, it was for a general test at first as hes got the proper engine but it works

but it will go eventually but then when it does hes not bothered as he was only gonna chuck the engine in the bin

now im sure if ya spent cash on th engine the risk aint worth it

why do people all jump on the band wagon to praise people,,,,,, is iot cause ya was too afraid to post what ya was thinking incase ya get shot down

dave do piccys of a bodged engine need to be seen

just piccys of the high speed run or a the end result of having a play on the A507 ona sunny saturday evening wiuld be better,,,,,,, makes sure ya show the other end of the rod up the road due to all the det when ya do though

but if ya dont melt the engine it does prove 1 thing,,,,,,,,,,, ya drive too slow and all ya actually do is drive to the local cruise to drive round at 5mph, prob rev ya engine to show the world that ya got chatter and so ya car is the tits

then when someone wants a play on the way home ya accelerate as fast as ya can to 75mph then back off saying ya done him when infact ya too scared to drive faster as ya prob got even more bodges on the handling side like cut down springs, fooked bushes and non tracked and balanced wheels meaning that after 70 the car shakes more that a junkie when hes dealers phone bat is dead

, class achivement there

My reply to the original post was simply to tell him he is totally wrong. The YB engine has a totally different VE characteristic and being a pentroof 16v head with central spark plug means the burn rate is also very different. The result is that a CVH headed engine has VERY different fueling and ignition requirements to a YB. As such a YB chip will be no where near ideal for this engine. It may well run and be able to achieve sensible on boost fueling by fudging things like the fuel pressure, but there will be areas of mapping that are simply way out and likewise the ignition curve will be no where near correct!!!!

(And by that I mean in places it will be up to 30 degrees advance out!!!)

karl dont take this as a dig but no fooker will understand

and if a person has worked out that hes car runs "fine" on a stage 3 map for his car then lets be honest, is he worth giving time for

EVEN if ya did help him and mapped his car FOC, im willing to lay money he will fit a bleed valve and run more boost anyway and not give a shit UNTIL it melts then remiove the bleed valve and claim that ya mapping is shit ect

there was aa guy who had in his sig "never argue with idiots, they just bring ya down to there level" or somink like that

maybe he spoke to him before

Quite a few people will understand imo, few will know how this is worked out or how overcome or resolve these issues tho and this is what make Karl, Stu and Tony so valuable to the board. Wish we could have more tech posts like we used to

Yes, from what Karl has said the differing VE of the engines and Burn rate due to plug location.

pmsl that is soo true (i include myself in that bracket! )

Understanding a turbo car is like understanding a women, you think your there then they do something totally random, which you can't explain and never will

thats what i said and certainly includes me. Now i can guess that due to the flame front in the YB having less ultimate distance to travel than an off centre generated point of ignition that is why the advance is affected.
Dunno how volumetric efficency would effect the demands but it obviously does and i know that thanks to techie post's from Karl ect.

As opposed to your useful posts about how you tightend a bike chain in halfords lol
