Thinking about buying a Series 1.....any advice ?
Hi all
Was just wondering if anyone could offer me some advice on what are the strong \ weak points of the Escort Series 1 Turbo please ?
I have just sold my Supra, and have had a couple of Escort Cosworths, but as much as i am quite clued up, and i know basically what to look for, any pointers would be much appreciated.
I have heard for instance that the engine / clutch / gearbox are prone for being dodge on these cars now etc, fuel pump relays. etc etc. I appreciate that they are 20 years old and i am not looking for anything concours, but just something thats very very clean and tidy with a good history and background.
My mate on here Nick500 is able to give me a lot of good advice being a Ford man through and through, so thats a plus, but i am thinking about going for something for a project to keep tidy and pull apart and clean up etc in my free time.
Seen a few very nice ones on ebay, but i have heard a lot of horror stories about folk buying and finding out they have been reshelled into Series 2 shells etc......i am not that stupid, but there are too many folk out there in the world willing to pass off sheds as minters.
So.......any pointers would be much appreciated and what i should be looking to pay bottom line to top line....
