I HAVE JUST BOUGHT A SAPPHIRE COSWORTH AND AM WONDERING IF ANYONE KNOWS THE CAR AS I NEED TO KNOW A FEW THINGS ABOUT ITS SPEC AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER DIDNT REALLY KNOW MUCH ABOUT IT.THE REG NO IS "C9SEE" AND ITS A WHITE 1988 SAPPHIRE RUNNING 8 INJECTORS,DIRECT PORT NITROUS,P8 MANAGEMENT,APPARENTLY MAPPED BY PAUL HILLS.
IF ANY OF THE PREVIOUS OWNERS OR ANYONE ELSE KNOWS-IT HAS A PART OF THE LOOM RUNNING FROM THE ECU TO A SWITCH AND WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING IF I FLICK THE SWITCH IT MAKES THE CAR RUN SLIGHTLY LUMPY.THE CAR WAS ADVERTISED AS HAVING ALS BUT DONT THINK IT HAS.THE LOOM HAS 3 WIRES ONE RED,ONE BROWN AND ONE GREEN BUT ONLY THE BROWN AND GREEN ARE CONNECTED.ANY IDEAS ANYONE?I THINK THE LOOM IS A PECTEL ONE

IM ALMOST CERTAIN ITS NOT ALS BUT AM VERY CURIOUS AS TO WHAT IT COULD BE.IVE ONLY EVER HAD COSWORTHS WITH THE USUAL INJECTOR/CHIP/ACTUATOR ETC UPGRADES SO ALL THIS IS NEW TO ME.ESPECIALLY WITH IT GOING BACK INTO THE ECU?

ITS A STANDARD LOOKING WHITE SAPPHIRE WITH TINTED GLASS AND IT HAD BIG AFTERMERKET ALLOYS ON IT,BUT IVE PUT 18" COMP MO'S ON IT NOW.EXTERNALLY IT ALSO HAS HI SPEC BILLET FRONT BRAKE DISC CONVERSION.I BOUGHT IT OFF A 50ISH YEAR OLD FELLA WHO DIDNT SEEM TO KNOW TOO MUCH ABOUT THE SPEC,BUT HE PAID £8500 FOR IT LAST YEAR BUT HIS AD WAS JUST A COPY OF THE ONE HE BOUGHT IT OFF.....
ITS GOT TWIN FUEL PUMPS WITH THE TWIN FILTERS UNDER THE BONNET AND A NITROUS KIT RUNNING AN INJECTOR INTO EACH PORT.

that used to belong to taz he posts as antilagnos8inj2wd or something like that, large number of bits on it came off my old one it is anti lag and yes paul done a lot of the work along with ex mountune tech dave.

ahah,now im getting somewhere as one of the owners was called taz as its on the number plates.
would appreciate any info thanks
the spec ive been told is
200 block with knife edged crank,low comp pistons,bd14 cams,double valve springs,ported head.it has siamesed 8 injector inlet manifold.direct port nitrous shot of 75 bhp.pectel loom with p8 management

thats why i bought it-the rusty bits didnt put me off-did you see it on ebay?i was originally going to put all the bits on my 3 door but i just love the way it drives so ive decided to sell the 3 door instead!

Mate i spent 25k on that motor and built most of it myself the als use to work fine that is what the red switch is for but i changed the tps on it before i sold it and never put it back in the right postion!. The car needs remapping it was overfulling a tad as of the tps etc. you need to have it mapped oh and she use to detonate to fck when i used the nos it also needs to be mapped in!!

it seems clean enough but there is a musty smell.just glad its not cloth!!!!

i have a garage where i maily sell performance fords and some bits and pieces-its really an excuse to play with cossies all day,but it makes a living.its called fordsport(warrington). not just fordsport as there is an owners club called that.
i sensed it was a bargain when i read the spec and was really surprised when no-one else bidded for it on ebay.i think the seller made it sound like it was falling apart bodily.
ian,ill be at the owners club meet on wednesday in it so i will take you out in it.its a lot quicker than my 3 door and the black sapphire!!!
anyway ian-just how many bargains have i put your way???????????

im not sure about the diff but ill defo have some fun in it-its a bigger spec than i would have ever gone for.i was happy to go grey injectors and maybe a bigger turbo on my 3 door,but now ive entered the dark side(probably the very expensive side too!)-but isnt that what owning a cossie is all about???????

Remember you at the rolling road day. And remember it made well over 400bhp, even with the Nitro's leaking all over the engine bay.... Would have done even more without the leaks.
One hell of an engine, and with a bigger turbo who know's what it could make.
Get it sorted though before you give it a boot full. Don't knacker it for the sake of not getting the mapping sorted on it. Like Taz said, alot of money was lavished on that motor, so get it sorted very soon.
