People said it could not be done, and dont want to speak too soon but finally got the cossie back running sweet as a nut after a long time out. Back in April last year I managed to hole a piston and got some ridiculous quotes off various garages for repair. I got a good local mechanic to do all the work and bought the parts new from traders off here. Its taken time but it runs perfect with no nasty rattles (as some said it would). Got to run in but fingers crossed. Got new pistons, rebore, new shells (crank was like new after 106000miles), head lightly skimmed, all new valves n lifters etc, cometic head gasket (thickest available) and as can be seen from pics a bit of powder coating and tarting up. I think it looks good and am well happy. Cost of labour for removing, stripping, rebuilding and replacing engine, as well as several other complications (repairing air-con etc)... £600.... Anyone in Grimsby/Cleethorpes area needing a great mechanic, let me know.

Wow, you must be over the moon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know what it's like not to have your car for a year, so gutting, seeing it there all clean and shiny but undriveable
600 pounds sounds like a very kind price indeed
The car looks absolutely gorgeous mate, good luck with the running in...I bet you're just happy it can get around under its own steam again, regardless of how fast it'll go!
