ENGINE OUT- 4x4 cos ?!?

Default ENGINE OUT- 4x4 cos ?!?

hi all.
gotta do an engine out job on my 4x4 cos.
(no ramps available lol)

Is the best/easiest way to go to take the head off first
and then crane the bottom end out seperate?

any advice!? lol
engine needs a 'freshen up'

with the 4x4 its actually easier to disconnect everything and lift the front end of the car & drop the engine out the bottom.

I watched Paul at north yorks' do this in about 10 mins!

Out the bottem is the best. It can be done out the top, but take it from me it is a pain in the @$$. I believe it tooke me a day just to wedge mine out (was a v6 4x4) of the top. When I put her back in I just disconnected the crossmember from the body, put the motor on it and lowered the car onto it. much easier.!!!!!

Cool..

However.. i've also watched someone do that.
and the car flexed a bit and cracked the windscreen

not somethin i really want to do

If taking out the top,best advised to remove front diff,to gain clearence

the diff hits the sides then? thats 3 bolts to take it off the sump,
and i gotta take the driveshafts out anyway ?
passengers side at least i guess!

Got mine out 'thru the bottom, took the head off first, it wasnt too bad...

then there is something wrong whit the chassis, if the windscreen was not cracked before. when car is in good shape, it would not brake nothing, when lifting. and if it brakes something, i would not drive it, before repairing the chassis.

I took mine out upwards and we had no problems..

only pain in the ass was the small space behind the engine to unbolt the gearbox.
we put it in place and had it connected to the box (with 4 bolts to hold it roughly in place) in 10 mins from above...
