was just about to bolt the head to the block but can find any locating dowls , how many should there be? as i need to tell the fella to get them for me so i can carry on as the engine is nearly ready to put back in the car ,

No locating dowels m8, did you see my response on your other thread regarding cams, etc... ? Solution is to use old cut off head bolts, or, to buy the proper "special tools" from ford or someone who sells them.
