Default 17s on an S2: what needs doing?

We've been offered a set for ours, but if I remember rightly they won't go straight on. What's the score? And what size tyres?

Ta muchly.

Gus, are we talking minor trimming with tin snips/hacksaw/whatever comes to hand, or a visit to the bodyshop?

I'm on 17 inch Evo R's tehy are a 7J width and I just bolted them straight on with no arch mods at all. Only scrubbage I get is on the o/s/f when braking v hard and catching bumps ( at the same time). It can go weeks without catching at all even when I drive like a hooligan.

hi simon it all depends on how low you want the car...mine is fine when i have my -45mm springs on the car and doesnt catch at all...but now i have put my ice back in for the shows...it catches on the back like MAD!!

my arches have already been cut back a few mm...but they need to go back more especially if i keep the car that low...

however, im off into the garage now to swap the springs for a pair of -25mm ones and hopefully that should raise the car enough to stop it from scraping

this is how low mine was at ford fair:

BTW do u know the offset of the rims? mine are ET35 IIRC or 37

Cheers chaps. Car's only on a 25 mm drop, so they should be fine.

You can see my car (white S2) in the above pics. Mine dropped 25MM on PI suspension (soon to be changed ) and no mods done to the arches. I can see that the front arch liner has rubbed a tad on full lock and occasionally when I have a passenger in the car it will catch (but only cos my passenger side shock is fooked )

I have no rear arch mods but a mod to the springs

All this info, no answers...

Depends how much it's lowered by
Depends on the offset of wheel and what wheel it is, also how wide 7 or 7.5"
Depends what tyres you wil be using - YES it does matter
Camber adjustment too, mine rubbed to fook before adj TCA's were fitted

lowered by -25mm should have NO problems fitting them, but any lower and - scrub, scrub, scrub

Oh, having rear discs also pushed the rear wheels out slightly, most people forget this so also makes a difference
