theres proberly quite a few that can do 200 plus, but doing it at brunters is another thing
dont mean thats not proven
mine pulls 7k on the road which is about 170,but even if i left it till the last minute at brunters i would only maybe just about do 160
i hit 156 by the way,but wasnt leaving it to the last minute or nothing

has anyone considered the consequences of making a jellymould sierra hit 200mph?
i've seen vids of cars taking off at 200+ and smashing into a million bits...
what precautions are the top speed boys making to avoid them turning into a human slush puppy?

did 176mph last sunday at brunters with crosswind regeared my car for 207mph at 7000rpm, ruf porsches(600bhp) only pulling 190mph normally 200mph problem with the cossies is aerodynamics ok if you have a tailwind, will have another go soon

heres the engine from the rx7 triple turbo

It achieved 241mph, it "took off" before at 220mph before achiveing the max speed
As bonneville is 12-13miles long, noone over here will run into trouble of "taking off" as such because they won't be using such a long stretch.

Hi
My car will make an attempt on this in the not to distant future.
Have been logging lots of facts on this & done a few calcs.
Mine did 183.3 with circa 470 brake , i believe the following figures will prove to be about right, if gearing & conditions are spot on.
180mph-- 460bhp
185mph--500bhp
190mph--560bhp
195mph--630bhp
200mph--720bhp
205mph--830bhp
210mph-- forget it
Lets say i have the Power,
so must now concentrate on gearing & pray for good conditions. Have looked long & hard at gearing & its the only area Mark leaves to me. No point gearing for 200 if you aint got 700+ brake as you will simply run out of road. Always gear for the available Power & max your car out.
Most people are way out with there gearing & i only have to look at the wheel/tyre combo to know they will stick in the 170's (circa 500brake cars)

I still think aero dynamics should be thought of more in the cossie world! People will spend 30k on an engine, but they won't do any aerodynamic research (i.e. underskirts, rear diffusors etc..
If you got the aerodynamics sorted even slightly you could hit 200mph with under 500bhp...

A cossie can go faster than 320 km/h(200 mph) with the right setup and the right aero dynamics setup.
I wonder what the reyland cossie can do when it's rebuild??
Maby martin can make his new reyland cossie better with aero dynamic's!!!

ponce
Didn't that American XR4ti do over 200mph on the salt flats? Any idea what distance it needed to crack 200mph, what power it needed and what aerodynamic modifications they made (if any)?
MWF-- Bloody long distance (5-6miles i think), was only about 500bhp-550bhp i think, and very little in the way of aerodynamics (well it still resembled a sierra anyhow)
The salt flats are about 12miles long, but the useable non-mushy bit is only 6 or so i think, or maybe the useable bit is 12 and it goes mushy after, i forget

Phil, I know
, was just making the point all the 'knockers' will start to say it's not as a Cosworth should run etc...
Personally, when you're trying to smash records, I think you do whatever it takes.
