Default Piston Rings, Valve seals or turbo????

how can i tell which are worn because my car is smoking like a mutherfucker.

No smoke on idle.
Blue smoke on hard acceleration. loads of blue smoke.
Not all the time tho.

When accelerating hard and back off there are no puffs of smoke.
Only smokes when actually accelerating .
even slight acceleration



the engine just got a full overhaul including rings , seals and turbo so i dont know where to start..

its a 1.8 zvh, stage 2 head with kent cam, etc..

15W 40 semi synt oil being used.

please help me!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you checked all your breathers are clean? you might be sucking up some oil.
Also worth checking incase you have a oil leak and its just oil dripping on the exhaust or something, i had that happen before, was just a small drip from the turbo oil return that got bad on full acceleration and high revs due to increased oil flow.

Also mate never use sinthetic oil on a new engine. You must use mineral oil for the bedding in of the engine.

i did use mineral oil at the start for about 1000 miles to bed it in.

which are the breather pipes that i must check?
if i am sucking up oil how do i stop this?

What management system are you running?? If your still on the standard ford air box thingy there is a breather pipe that goes into the bottom, these regularly tend to fill with oil.

Out the back of the cam cover there is a hose which goes into a little black plastic breather, they may also me clogged.

i am using the standard metering unit, will i clean the pipe going from the rocker cover to the bottom end too?


would this be a cause of burning loads of oil??
