Default C&B's Beantin....

I jumped in the passenger seat at a recent meet to see what all the fuss was about. Now I'd been out in it before (as well as other beantins) and never been that impressed by them.

However, this time I had to eat my words, as the thing pulled like a fucking train all the way to 7k on the rev counter. In fact, on the private test track it peaked at an indicated 140 on the clock . Not impressed? That was in FOURTH ! Fifth was then selected, and it STILL continued to pull like a train and had the needle off the clock .

I was shocked and impressed, as I know what a quick car feels like, and this felt VERY quick. The funny thing is, Gary (the main man behind the mapping of the car) has a 360-370ish bhp Evo VII (Motec etc) and he can only match the acceleration of the Beantin . I think he's pissed at that - expect him to be bolting on a bigger turbo to change that . In the meantime, I can't wait to see it being speed tested, as 165 must be attainable . I would point out though - it's still a beantin .

As long as the Vauxhall is a 1.6 8v turbo, then fair enough .

Credit where credit is due and all that .

Sounds awesome

RST's are great for something that was supposed to be just a hot hatch, it's amasing what people have got out of them over the years! I think the original book time for them was 130mph top end with a 8.1 -0-60!

Bean tin as a description is a little harsh, especially considering the size of Cossies physically, i.e. battle ships! lol

That's actually a very fair point, as you should see how he normally slag them off

CheeRS Guys!!

Mike, you took your time!! That was a week-and-a-half ago!

Infact 4th see's an indicated 145ish mph. I haven't had 5th flat out yet. Much to Gary's disgust, I actually think I could still out-accelerate him in a straight line from a rolling start, but the car is at its most impressive in terms of 3rd and 4th gear acceleration. Torque steer has become a real issue, it has gone from being 'Laughable' to actually quite uncontrollable!

Hoping I do get a place at National Day (Im currently in the Waiting list), although I will unquestionably be on normal Road tyres that day.

So, then its just a case of finding somewhere to do some proper Top Speed testing.

The Torque Steer makes it quite fun to drive. You certainly need to be on your toes.

I remember the 1st time i went in the passenger seat of C&B's RST @ SCA, It pulled like a train then.

Then when i jumped in the passenger seat at brunters for a lift down the runway, Mr C pull to the shift light in 5th (a proven 160 mph) without really going for it and without the timing gear

An amazing car.

I cant wait until i get a ride in Tony's with his bigger turbo than Mr C's Savage me thinks
