Another Tony Motorsport™ Project! Update 14th Nov
What have I let myself in for, taking on another car project?
This time it will be without the help of Damo, just to prove I can do stuff for myself, although I will probably need some help from AndyRST at some point as he has a lot of knowledge about these.
Some of you may have seen pictures of this before, others may have heard about it. I have done some work to it already. I painted it myself, which was the first time I have painted anything like this before and it didn't come out too sad really.
HERE ARE SOME PICTURES OF IT IN PRETTY MUCH STANDARD FORM

My home made spray booth lol

Bodywork is 90% complete

Compared to a 1/8th Scale Nitro car

THEN I ADDED THESE
Rude not to really

Also you might notice a GENUINE carbon fibre spoiler on the rear wing
I have tuned the engine a bit too. It started out as a 23cc 2 stroke engine with a very basic air filter and exhaust system

Since then I fitted cable front brakes, these turned out to be crap. So I bought some hydraulic brakes with a proper master cylinder and calipers with little brake pads, awwwwww, so cute. These brakes had to be custom made to fit as they don't normally fit the Short Wheel Base chassis.

I also bought a blue Motorsport shell from Ebay. The shell is good apart from a bit of battle damage on the front bumper which makes it ideal for thrashing around the car park. The wheels and tyres were also from ebay

Then I fitted a big air filter with a K&N element, big power exhaust pipe, 2 speed gearbox and a couple of other engine tuning bits including a big bore kit which takes it to just over 26cc's

The big power tuned pipe doesn't normally fit this car either, but it is one of the best around, so I made it fit. Was quite easy really. It looks and sound the bollox.

All these bits on the engine give it roughly around 3.5 - 4 bhp, which isn't bad really. With this gearing it should give it a top speed of around 75mph! I can send the engine off to be fully worked and it will come back at around 6 - 7 bhp
It's hard enough to drive as it is
You might be wondering what I have planned for the Porsche now? Funny you should ask lol.
I'm stripping some of it down to fit new bits, including metal gears, few lightweight alloy parts and just clean it up and a bit. I was going to change the piston ring, and replace all the gaskets, I have all the parts to do so, but was talked out of it by Andy yesterday as it probably hasn't been run long enough.
THIS IS AS FAR AS I GOT TODAY
Engine and gearbox off

Screw that operates rear brake has rattled out

Gearbox, gear carrier and clutch bell off

New Alloy Gear Carrier ready for bearings

Unfortunatly that is as far as I got. Getting the new bearing into the gear carrier proved a bit tough without the proper tools, I fucked up 2 bearings, so thought I should order some bits and do it properly. That should arrive in a couple of days I hope then I can crack on with it.
What do you think?

LOL
Benn - Yeah, the wheels are knackered, which makes them ideal for burnouts and just good old fashioned abusing lol. The Yellow shell sits in the loft mate, I only use the blue one
I have seen real metal two piece wheels that I like, they look the nuts, but they are Ł200 for 4 wheels, no tyres
Mr C - PMSL @ Aeroquip. Not alot to do really, it only has one fuel line and one vent line
Adam and Dave - Cheers
I was bored lol
xr4x4rs - Thanks matey, it's 1/5th touring car, the off roaders and trucks are 1/6th, but they much the same really. Any decent model shop should be able to order one for you if you wanted, or there are always some kicking around on Ebay.

Billabong - Yeah, it is mate, very lairy in the wrong hands, read as: mine, pmsl. Very tail happy, just like the real thing used to be I guess, but rewarding once you learn how to drive it quick and you come out of a corner and don't donut for once
Jabba - Thanks mate. Yeah, they aren't cheap by a long shot
Thanks all
Muuuhahahahaha I spy your nemesis in the picture below
:

As for the Piston ring m8, i dont think you have run the engine long enough for it to be changed, besides the last time we stripped that engine down we couldnt get it to start again
, but did get some cool looking flames off that spark plug when running it out of the engine
Suppose i had better get on and put mine back together and get my fuel ordered

We'll see
I was speaking to the guy I ordered the parts from today for over half an hour, he was sooooo helpful. He told me the best way to set the mixtures up etc, and he recommended I buy a new clutch, but I think I will order that later with a change of suspension. I will probably just buy some springs. Or maybe a different diff.
Fix the Scoob and we can have some proper fun, and get kicked out of another car park

I have taken couple of parts off the Scoob (for pattern match) so i can get the bits i need, so will be off to the model shop tomorrow lunch time
Bet i have trouble in getting that fuel i need to run tho

Howdy...
My new parts arrived today

They are;
Bearing Pushing Tool,
Alloy Gears, 22 and 24 teeth,
Engine Quick Release Kit
Circlip Plies
Before

After

I always find that you should have a tidy work space and you shouldn't get your socks too close to the grease

That's it for now, there seems to be a bit of an issue with the gears meshing with the Alloy Gear Carrier, I hope it's been made correctly
Oh, and I have NO idea how the quick release kit fits
The Bearing Tool is a God send, fantastic piece of kit and a doddle to use
I will get Andy round tomorrow to see what he thinks about the meshing issue then I can hopefully carry on from there.

LOL @ TT, looks like your FG car needs some Aeroquip to sort that problem
Radders whats the point in having a nice chromed engine and exhaust on a Marder, it will get black with mud in about 3 seconds of proper use

, but fuck me it shifts
Dont like lakes very much tho LOL
Cor... It's been a while hasn't it
I tell you what happened, this meshing issue kinda stumped me, so I left it for a while, then, my RS Turbo came back and the FG car got kinda put to the side lines, you know how it is.
Then, to make matters worse, someone moved the car, disturbing where I put all the screws and ruining my system, so I gave up
But today, I left work early because I was bored and thought I would put it back together. Make a real effort today and get it sorted. I thought I would start off by putting the plastic gears back on to see if they meshed ok, and they did. I think that one of the metal gears is too big, either one too many teeth than the original, or just a bit bigger in size.
So wth the gearbox box on, and then sussing out what screw and bolt is ment to hold it all together, I tried to fit the heatshield. Now, none of this add-ons come with instructions, so it's all guess work.
Exhaust manifold off, and plate on, making sure it is the right way round

WOW, it fits!

Exhaust manifold back on

Boredom setting in now, I just wanted to get it all back together. So I bolted the engine and gearbox back to the chassis, I connected the fuel lines and the throttle and brake rods.
Now time to fire the engine up....
I prime the engine, close the choke, give it a couple of pulls..... Open the choke, pump a bit more fuel in and give it a pull.........
Nothing
A few more pulls.....
Nothing, not even a splutter
Bear in mind I haven't touched the engine, or the fuel settings. All I can think of is that the fuel has gone off as it has sat under my bed for a few months.
I put some fresh fuel in and try again........ Nothing
Then someone tells me that 2 stroke oil goes really thick after a while and it can clog the carb. So best thing to do is to squirt carb cleaner down the carb. I couldn't be bothered to take the air filter off (quite a big job) so I squirted carb cleaner in the intake and pulled the handle.
I get a few coughs and splutters, so I carry on squirting and pulling...
It starts
Then dies
So I carry on and get a few more coughs. Then it starts so I rev it holding the throttle open. LOADS of smoke from the carb cleaner. After about a minute it idles!
So I leave it idling in the garden and give it a good clean with Auto Glym Engine and Machine cleaner, then rinse off with water. Lovely jobbly
Hopefully this weekend I can get enough time and space to set up the fueling for the new mods and get it running as it should be, along with some suspension settings and get it driving well too.
Thanks for looking
